I bought the little Denons the Sc2000's. I was able to get one brand new from a store that was having a clear out sale. Then When I wanted a second one they could not fulfil the order. I found one online in the local equivalent of Ebay paid half the price I paid for the new one. So not bad all round.

I saw the S8 for the first time in real today. Could try it out and was excited!
I never use jog controller and was waiting for the first brand who would ban them. Native instruments did! Very smart.
    But no Pitch faders?
Bummer for me, otherwise i would have bought him immediately.

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS - please get your heads out of ass and put a pitch control fader on your DJ controllers.

Not all music fits into a simple 4 beat box, like FUNK! the entire reason dance music exists! Disco pre-drum machine and any HUMAN created music does not keep 4/4 time from start to finish.
When using Turntables, this is easy.. but the ENTIRE REASON I like digital mixing is not carrying around record boxes and turntables.

You force me to still carry turntables around because I actually know how to mix without SYNC and using a pitch control would be just as useful.
    BUT Noooo...

If you are not going to add this simple REAL DJ TOOL that ALL WORKING DJ'S ACTUALLY USE, then what the hell are you doing in the DJ business? Serato is crawling up your ass quick and if you ignore important MAJOR tools like PITCH CONTROL for dj's, you have completely missed the point.

    CONTROL is not Automation.
One of the more effective mixing techniques is slight off-pitch mixes to build energy or mess with the beats a little. You have completely cut off this ability COMPLETELY!!!

I would also like to complain about STEMS - why the hell sell stems with 4 tracks and require the artist only uses 2 if they have beat, and bass.. with minor or barely in the track vocal or other.. let them cut it up however the hell they like..
what happens if there is no bass in a track? just leave it as 4 tracks they can do whtever the hell they want with.. NOT limited to drum, bass, melody, voice. What does an all drum track do? it would be great if they could have different drum bits, but not with stems nooo.
pointless ridiculous and complete waste of money and time STEMS is if you limit it like that.

    anyway.
love maschine studio, and most products in general, but not sure what you are doing with no pitch control.

I've been told to ' map it myself..
I'd love to.. I have tried to.. I guess I will have to search harder for MAP YOUR OWN native instrument help.

Using Z2, X1 (v1) and F1, would have bought Z2 - no pitch, might have bought D2 no pitch, s5, s8.. no pitch.
    stupid

You seriously have to stop calling these things "PRO DJ".. they are PRO AUTOMATION

    Hello,

I read this entire topic and I'm wondering why you don't use the four-faders (normally dedicated for the volume of the four samples of a remix deck) in a MIDI mode. In that way, you can assign one of these to any control you want, like pitch for deck A/B. Unfortunately, you have to switch back to FX-mode in order to use these performance controls for an FX (for example).

I agree with the fact that it is annoying, but this machine is built for very regular BPM styles of music.

Indeed, it's very complicated to mix Funky music (such a shame!), but we can plug two turntables in a Timecode mode, or just waiting for a "dynamic grid" in Traktor 3 like Pioneer does with its Rekord Box DJ.

Consider buying me the S8. Is it really possible in Performance Midi mode, as described in the manual on page 254, to map all tractor commands without restrictions or only some global commands?

    Hello viper,

I just tried to use these performance commands in MIDI mode. Everything worked perfectly, with any assignable command, liker other mappings in controller manager; that is to say there is no restrictions with these commands, it works like any other MIDI control (because it becames a MIDI control in MIDI mode).

    Bye.

NB : there's a little restriction. You can't assign the four faders of the left/right part of the S8 if the deck C/D is in remix deck. In that case, it will always control the volume of the remix slots.

You could always download something like touchOSC and add to touch screen faders that way on the cheap?

I found this at NI Support- very important if you will use your own Midi commands:
    https://www.native-instruments.com/...ol-s8-d2-mapping-mit-hilfe-von-midi-anpassen/

It´s in german but I think it will be also available in english
