    1) When you first import the bank, you'll be asked for a destination folder. You can make a new subfolder at that time.

Absynth will look for your new .ksds in whatever path you have in your options/database menu. By default, it's My Documents/Native Instruments/Shared Content/Sounds/Absynth 4

    2) File/New Sound

Just got Absynth 4 and some great sounds but NI really need to address the file browsing and glo import issue. It is so convoluted and confusing. Still, great machine.

Finally upgraded to Ab.5 from Ab.2. First of all i tried to deal with the import .glos feature and being stuck i googled until i found this thread. i see that it is an old can of worms, if i may say... Since 2006, did nobody do the job to convert all the old free stuff into the new format to share them with the community?

    Welcome to the forum!

Actually, I'm not aware of any lingering problems with downloaded patches since Ab3, but since you're coming from Ab2 there might be some issues...

You didn't mention which platform you're on, but I'm on a PC, and I keep my downloads in

    MY DOCUMENTS\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds\Absynth 5

I save new patches to that Absynth 5 folder, and I stash downloads in sub-folders named things like "Old Downloads 1" and such.

    HTH,

    Allen

Even with reading this explanation I still have no idea how to go about opening these files. When I download one there are no samples or anything its just a file that is unable to be opened by anything...hmm.

Unzip the .glo. Then with Absynth 4 or 5, use the import .glo command in the file dropdown. Remember that all the old patches for Absynth 1 (and quite a few of the banks floating around) don't use samples.

Because the database isn't completely updated until you do.
