Improvements for next release: wish list for feature requests

PS NI hire me, I just moved to la and am looking for senior web dev gig to get me by!

 

Let me suggest the key combination Shift/Octave. Btw, this was a often noted critic and is a no-go for many potential buyers.

Fixed position for lit Keyswitches: if the keyswitches use a low octave, have that octave visible via light guide regardless of the transpose button setting - upper octaves could still be moved with octave buttons. In Cinematic Strings I could then play high string parts while still having keyswitches accessible in the bottom octave of the keyboard.

 

Printing midi for arp/chord function is a basic, so cmon guys n gals at NI we paid a lot of money for your product and as good as it is
these simple things need attending to...update soon pleeeeze

 

Changing the default location of the VST plug-ins is not possible on OS X. I cannot speak for your experience on Windows. Here is the response I received from Native Instruments' excellent support team:

Don't know if this will address your issue but from with instrument loaded from Kontrol software try "edit view" accessible from drop menu from small down arrow button at top of window by the magnifying glass. Wish I could make this the default view.

 

Yes, edit view is a bit of help, but unsufficiently to scroll through long instrument / sound lists. NI urgently needs to implement full screen ... that it's missing is a shame for every NI developer! Sorry, that I have to say that, but it really is.

 

Control for the mixer pots in maschine from the kk keyboards for mikro users .

 

Short and sweet...
Enable Light Guide for Kontakt as well as other "single" instruments from Komplete.
Enable Multi's in Komplete Kontrol.

 

Basically what i would love to see is the stuff AKAI did with their new Pro series keyboards.
- third party instruments, libraries, effects integration
- maybe you can send out a toolkit to plug-in companies (like apple does) to make it easier for implementation
- custom arpeggiator plugin/window, so i can draw (midi notes) my own arpeggios and can save them within the komplete kontrol soft/maschine soft
- instrument layering would be really cool /split keyboard for live performance with (of course) color coding for the keys to see the splits
- create multi patches that i can turn on and off with the encoders (like 8 instruments loaded at once)
- more chords/or a chord maker that can suggest the best chord progression with possibility to save it as a performance patch and load it within maschine or the kontrol s keyboards. (like in cubase or the toontrack ez keys)
really looking forward to the new updates.

 

HUI protools control.. HOW HAS THIS NOT HAPPENED YET?..or at least an app that converts mcc into HUI

 

It seems, that Kontrol development causes some headaches, because it is very complex. New updates need to be Beta tested on OSX and Windows and with every major DAW. And don't forget the "integration" into Maschine and that firmware development might also play a role here and there.

But when I see that Rounds got a major update and a small fix was released two workdays later, after a bug was reported in the Reaktor forum, I think we just need to be patient. They seem to be working on Komplete. It's obvious, that they watch the forums and know about our complaints.

But when I see, that the user libraries, except Reaktor, are offline since more than 4 weeks, I have the impression, that some dev teams are just too small.

 

I think you two are meaning to refer to the NI CONTENT Libraries for Komplete 10 (Reaktor,
Kontakt etc.). When given the option of LOCATION during the installation, it is recommended to click on the
folder "SHARED" (?Mac,User,Shared) then select the alternative drive. In my case I have a Solid State Drive for the DAW and Apps, but another Standard 1 TB Drive for all the sound libraries and recorded audio files.
I missed this step whem downloading Komplete 10, panicked for a second, then discovered that the folders could be moved after the install, but with SPECIFIC instructions for each instrument/effect.
Search NI Support : "How to move Native Instruments Software or Libraries to another Location on the computer."
I spent many hours moving everything but it is all working wonderfully!

Now, NI! PLEASE, address what is happening with the KK & Yosemite compatibility problem.
Im getting very close to giving up on purchasing a KK to use with my Komplete 10 because I run Pro Tools 11.3 in OS 10.10 Yosemite. M-Audio is looking better and better.

 

No, they ment the plugins (VST, etc.), which can be installed to a "custom" location only on Windows. For the libraries there are NI knowledgebase articles for both OSX and Windows.

Regarding NI Knowledgebase there's only an incompatibility left with Avid drivers. But you can count on it, that NI knows of all reported issues and is working on it. But my guess is, that NI's dev department is just too small for so many products ... there are customer demands in all areas, Traktor, Maschine, Kontrol-S, the audio interface and not to forget the software like Reaktor, where e.g. multi core support is desireable. That might explain, why NI development is soooo slow.

But is the competition faster? How many DAW users are switching over to Reaper, because they fix bugs much faster than e.g. Steinberg. How good is Akai with their support?

Annoying, but nowadays the average customer is an unofficial Beta tester

Also, deep down, I trust that NI will resolve the KK/Avid Drivers in Yosemite problem. I'm just a bit anxious to get to writing & producing after months of compatibility research between Mac, Pro Tools and software companies to build my dream studio only to have the last component (KK)
not available to me. First world problem, I know, but it would help myself & others who have found themselves in the same fix, if NI would simply post progress updates.

That's something NI definitely needs to learn: customer communications. But there's hope ... I saw an announcement about a future update in the Kontakt forum, including a list of fixes and new features!

PS: What I find totally funny, is that all major DAWs have problems with Kontrol-S / Kontrol and Reaper, which is nearly at the end of NI's Supported DAWs List has no issues at all ... you use the wrong DAW
