Improvements for next release: wish list for feature requests

Another request from my side in Komplete Kontrol on the S-series mk2 keyboards...
If KK browser is selected on the keyboard, can the rotary knob 1 and 2 be flipped around?
In my personal workflow it is so that:
I would love to use knob 1 for selecting the instrument or effects, and,
I would love to use knob 2 for selecting the categories

Let me know via the like button if anyone seconds these thoughs?

 

I have a major interesting request for NI Kontrol keyboards:
We already have the NKS to control Plugin synthesizers.
But what about an option to control External synthesizers with NI Kontrol Keyboards?
Imagine Hardware synthesizers being NKS ready!

As we can already connect modern synthesizers like the Moog sub 37, Moog One, Arturia MatrixBrute,... with USB to Kontrol/Maschine.
What if we could change presets, change main controls and such with the Kontrol Keyboard?
This would take a lot of work, but would create an immersive possibility to NI Kontrol/Maschine.

Imagine recording your keys first, then sample record, hit play and tweaking Hardware parameters with the Kontrol knobs!

 

Maybe there is already something like this but I absolutely cannot find it.

Some way to turn off the screens on NI devices when we're not using them.

My KK M32 LED screen is very noticeably burnt in with the "Template 1 / MIDI Mode" text that shows when the device is plugged in and not actively being used. I've had the thing about a year and it's already getting hard to read some of the text on it.

Really perplexing to have the screens enabled constantly unless you want them to degrade over time. The same thing happens on the Maschine. It's really things like this that prevent me from recommending these products to other people or staying within the NI hardware ecosystem. Why would I upgrade from this keyboard if I'm worried those screens will burn out too?

 

Komplete Kontrol iPad App for browsing .. I own a MK2 61 , BUT IT SITS OFF TO THE SIDE.. I use a Kurzweil Forte 88 instead, due to quality issues. It'd be nice to use the iPad with my other synths, that way I don't have to rely on the hardware, and can use an app instead for browsing patches.

 

Yes, but if you have many libraries, it's slow.

 

It's absolutely required to have a favorites system that is fast and effective. When you have many extensions and plugins, the list of sounds goes in the tens of thousands. A simple 'star' is not nearly enough to differentiate.
One can save a preset as a User Preset, adding specific tags, but that workflow is way too cumbersome to be productive.
I'm wasting too much time on this, which in turn blocks the creative process. And after all, that's what it's all about.

 

One more time for a Multi-timbral Komplete Kontrol , there really doesn't seem to be much of an advantage to using the Hardware, if it can't even layer instruments. Figured after 7 years or so this would be an option, why is this such a huge task to get the most basic features from NI?

 

How about a radio mode for the top buttons when in MIDI mode? Currently buttons set for the same CC but different values will call up both buttons and values. A radio mode would turn the first of and the second on.

 

NI, please implement this for A-series KK when using with Maschine software. Encoders in track mode control track volume for 8 first tracks in group, and by holding shift - next 8 tracks. At the momnent, 8 encoders do nothing in track mode inside maschine.

 

Would love the ability to control the CONTRAST on the S88 MK2. The right screen often has such a light background that one cannot clearly see the text since the screens don't pop out at an angle. How hard would it be to add this in a firmware upgrade? Please add a contrast display control - the current Brightness one hardly helps.

 

When using dials for volume changes in the mixer the change is to much too fast unless holding the shift button. I'd like the default to be slow unless pressing the shift for fast.

 

I would like the ability to change the color of the root notes in scale mode. It is difficult to tell the difference between the slightly brighter blue. thanks

 

What about a serious volume control?! I dont believe this. two aspects to sound waves- volume and frequency. Well NI offers a billion ways to kontrol the frequency, but the volume? Just a tiny slider less than an inch that goes from 0-400 and is unmarked in anyway shape or form. How on earth am I supposed to reliably and consistently obtain the regular repeatable results? There is nothing in the manual about the volume slider even. This is incomprehensible. Were audio professionals and were supposed to work with this? I am staggered. Please, someone tell me there is a big easy to read and control volume know that I'm missing. It is called Komplete Kontrol for a reason. Seriously, what happened.

For orchestral film , TV, Game composers who use Vienna Ensemble Pro to host their ( often Kontakt ) vast orchestral libraries there is a problem for KOMPLETE KONTROL owners - when Vienna Ensemble servers are being accessed across ethernet:
namely - one can no longer use all the Komplete Kontrol functionality at all.

Theres two solutions to this -

A ) NI liaise with Vienna developers and figure out a way for Komplete Kontrol top run in client server fashion....

B ) NI make their own plugin server alternative to Vienna Ensemble Pro.
This could have advantages such as the KONTAKT engine could be built into the server at a deep level - allowing all kinds of optimisations to be done when running huge numbers of instances and sample libraries on it.

There really needs to be a better approach to current VEP client-server type setups.

 

Please add a five stars rating system to all of the instruments and effects that can be used in Komplete Kontrol. Adding one start for favorites isn't fairly enough by such an amount of instruments and effect available in the Komplete universe

 

Also, I'd like you to add a page where instruments (user and factory presets, not only one of both!) can be stored and quickly recalled by a program change command when needed. So far it is not possible to switch between instruments that become stored sort of in a preset system (comparable to registration banks on keyboards)

 

Hi, can you please add an option to turn the light guide off on the Kontrol series?

I honestly didn't think it would bother me as much as it does, but here I am in my low-lit studio and these 61 bright-as-headlights blue flickering LEDs are killing my mood to play this thing. The forums here are downright stuffed with requests to turn these off. This controller is inspiring to navigate, the keybed is fantastic, and otherwise this is so classy and well-designed. The lights are distracting and tacky.

 

I forgot to post this - even BT thinks we should have editable user banks in KK.
