Improvements for next release: wish list for feature requests

Yes, as I mentioned, the color black has been removed from the current MIDI template maker in MKII. I have made many templates in the new standalone application of KK.

It just takes two or three times longer to do it there, so I miss the Controller Editor. For example, when you used the Controller Editor to change the light guides, you saw them move on your screen as you adjusted them in the application in real-time. Very easy. In the current version, you have to keep switching back and forth between the editor and MIDI screen to see them. It can take a lot of switching back and forth to get them in the place you want them. It is the same with everything. This is why I would like a version of the Controller Editor back for the MKII.

Also, the color black is gone and that was always the most important color for me. Even if it's a big deal for NI to create a new Controller Editor, I don't think it would be difficult for NI to put the color black back in and it would improve the functionality a lot.

Also, when I got my MKII I lost all the templates I spent years making for my MKI. Some of these were quite complex ones with a dozen pages or more. This does make me worry about the time I am putting in now.

 

I'm still really missing a way to quickly reset a single parameter of any preset to its initial value (the one that's stored with the preset). Like when playing around with a parameter and then you find out you want to have it back to the value that it had been when the preset got loaded. Why can't you like tap three times on the encoder in order to reset it or something similar??? That was such a practical feature!

 

I hope that the garbage interface for KK is on the list.

Most of te prestige DAW's and plugins have already done so and switched to the vector fonts and images, but KONTAKT and KK are still using super ancient raster fonts and images for GUI which really, really suck because libraries screens are most of the time unreadable on hi-res monitors. I use 4K screens and simply using KK is a nightmare .
I had to stop using several libraries for the simple reason that the fonts are so surer tiny and unreadable. On top of that NI use gray fonts on dark gray background which makes things even worse. KK interface as bad as it gets (same with Kontakt). People are begging for redesign and seems like NI really do not care.

Allow to pre-define a instrument patch that always gets loaded when KK starts (if no instrument is selected yet)

 

Please add the ability to show factory and user instrumemts together in one big ALL library instruments page... I would like being able to browse my user instruments, that are categorized by NI tags as well, with the factory presets... Please make it possible somehow to use the browser for both, factory and user sounds together (without the need to having to bring them on the hard disk together). Thank you so much!

About VST 3 support, there are 2 different issues :

1. Third party VST3 plug-ins support in Maschine and Komplete Kontrol :
Sorry to disappoint, I know some of you are waiting for this for a long time. VST3 support in Maschine and in Komplete Kontrol for third party plug-ins is still in our backlog but will not happen in the near future. Even if more and more plug-ins are now VST3 only (like Reason Rack for example) but the vast majority of manufacturers still provide vst2 versions.

2. Native Instruments plug-ins being developed in the VST3 format :
This should happen gradually. As you already know, Super8 was released as a VST3 plug-in. To get an exact timeframe right now is not possible but please be assured it's worked on.

Point 2: Great.

Point 1: Not so great. Klevgrand Pipa and Equator 2 are two of my Synths I can't bring into KK and are VST3 only. Surely it would make sense, if the functionality is there, to perhaps enable this in beta, even without support? I'm pretty sure the community would provide plenty of feedback.

 

Please---ability to turn off boot-up scan. It takes me ridiculous amounts of time to start KK. Let me scan when I want/need to. Put an option in the setting menu.

 

Coming back after a year to see if there was any improvement...

:: Can't load in older patch that is non KK preset, because it defaults to nonsense automatic layout => tons of User manual work
:: Can't save FX chain => Basically no sense to use KK with effects
:: Can't put Audio FX in first slot => can't use to control effects
:: No VST3 support => No chance to get your plugins organised as need to keep two versions of everything
:: No structured MIDI mapping => Paging through hundreds of parameters to reach one
:: Fine adjustment is still not enough fine => tons of mousing
:: No UI scaling

I still wish I haven't bought KK MK2 in the first place. Unfortunately, poor software development is out of scope of warranty.

 

i really like how Kontakt is a multioutput plugin, allowing for multiple plugins to be routed internally and then out to the mixer of the daw as individual tracks. Currently i use the Komplete Kontrol Instrument Rack as the midi source, and literally route Kontakt to it so that i can use multiple plugins within Kontakt but i lose the special light guide of things like Session Guitarist. i would really like KK to become a multi out plugin, almost exactly like kontakt. The ability to use it as a rack makes the options limitless and would clean up the audio routing.

 

Komplete Kontrol Software is a very cool sounds finder. It is enough to select two categories from Type / SubType / Characters to significantly reduce the list of available sounds, sometimes even to a few. Unfortunately, KKS has a drawback. The search engine is 1/3 of the screen on the left. A little bit and you have to scroll all the time. It's a pity that the search engine cannot be enlarged on the screen, as Browser in FM8.

 

Is anyone else on here a media composer who would like to see at least three long-throw faders added to the Komplete Kontrol S series keyboard controllers for MIDI expression control purposes? I’m currently shopping for outboard fader solutions, but if faders and an XY pad could be added to the next iteration of the S88 controller, that would be super convenient.

 

Better Integration with Logic Pro and Mainstage, is like controlling chord modes from the keyboard.

 

A Panic button, to stop Midi Output when it crashes.

 

2.5 years of MK2 ownership and would still very much like:

• Ability to assign pitch and bend wheels to different midi channels
• Ability to change buttons 1-8 behaviour with options for Toggle (how they are currently), Hold (active only while button is being pressed), and Takeover (where pushing one button turns off the others)
  
• Change display style for encoders 1-8 where they display a cicular rotary indicator on screen (could be as well as the existing numerical data) similar to midifighter twister indicator lights
  
• UI scaling
  
• Ability to turn off lights

very few requests have ever made it in the software that we bought and the company we support doesn't seem to care about customers feature requests ..
Komplete Kontrol still can't layer two sounds together.. it's now 2021 -here's some perspective..How can you be positive when the company you show support to, won't support your requests.. 7 years and we still can't layer two sounds..

 

Hopefuly, Komplete kontrol S61MK3 is going to be out in september with big improvement.... isn’t it ?
Just have a look of Numbers of S61MK2 in shop since january, everyone is running out !

Not only do I totally agree with this, I also ask myself why this is all in English (the programme as well as this forum) - I thought this is a German Company? Steinberg has no problems to offer two forums, one in English and one in German...
