I just purchased my Maschine and am trying to get an understanding of building songs. How do I make a copy of a scene and have that copy be independent of the original. So far what I am seeing is that any change made to the copy also changes the original. I am also noticing that by default the copy of the scene is created with the same name as the original. I am trying to create different scenes that build upon each other.

    Thanks!

Scratch that...I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was not realizing that a scene was just a collection of patterns. I need to be copying and then modifying the patterns and then adding them to the next scene.

When I copy a scene, and make changes it doesn't change the original. Only way it does that is if you make changes to the pattern.

    For instance.

If I copy scene 1 to scene 2, it will have all the same patterns. If I want to make a change in the scene, I duplicate the pattern of the group I want to change, then make changes.

If your scenes share the same pattern of a particular group, anything you change in that pattern will change across all scenes.

I find it easier to just duplicate the pattern I want to change and make changes, then put that pattern in my copied group.

Check the compare/split function, when you changed a pattern but also want what was originaly there, shift+pad3 to compare, shift+pad4 will make a new pattern of the changed original pattern, and leave the original pattern where it was.
Sounds complicated, but realy is not. Very handy function.

cool...i guess there are plenty of ways to do it, I found that i just duplicate the pattern then make changes. Guess it's pretty much the same thing. lol
