Okay, I do feel a little silly asking this becuase I know there will be an easy explination for it... I hope.

To see if i could, i was building a simple Multiple-like macro, as in... a signal comes in and then goes out through the corresponding outputs... so like... input A will take an input, and pass it through A1,A2 and A3.. all the same signal as the input at A.
It was all going brilliantly untill i had the bright idea of adding some bloody indicators to the process... to show when an input was coming in... and when outputs were going out.

Now, bearing in mind I was wanting this to be a 1in/3out macro, i dont want to put in Pitch/Gate events, but a single audio input.

The first problem might sound a little stupid... well... a lot stupid... but I was wondering how to get the indicator to come ON when an audio signal is coming through and then switch OFF again when there is no audio coming through?

The second problem im not even sure is possible.
Is there a way to make an output indicator come on, when the audio is coming through AND there is a connection at that point?
As in, is there a way to detect if there is a connection at its output(say A2), and turn an indicator(A2) on if there is an Audio signal present?

    Thanks In Advance.

Okay... So i have found a fairly primative solution for the first problem...
Doubt its what you guys had in mind when you get to reading this, but squaring the input seems to make all the audio signals trigger the indicator and make them stay on, mind, im just squaring the input to the indicator, not the overall signal.

    Yes?
    No?

If no, why not, i like learning from mistakes.

    Cheers:)

    Alright!
I have the solution to the first thing... and it was a simple thing. In fact, so simple i actually slapped myself across the face.

I was using a standard indicator, instead of a level indicator!
Im so silly... so... that only leaves one thing left...

a picture of your structure would help us..... an upload of the macro would be even better.

All it is, is just a simple 1 input/3 output Macro that carries the exact signal that places in the input, to the three outputs.
I have figured out how to make the indicator light when there is a signal being passed through it, but i have no idea how to make the indicator light come on, ONLY when an output is connected to something else.

e.g - when there is a filter input connected to Output 2, only Output 2's indicator will come on.

Sorry if im being really hard to understand, im just rubbish at explaining things.

i have looked at your structure. the 3 outputs are active all the time, therefore all three laps will be active all the time. if you want to send them to individual outputs, you need to use a distributor/panner module. see pic.

So basically you are saying, there is no way to check if an output is connected to something, whilst all the outputs are active?

i really am stuck for explaining here...

IF there is an output connected
THEN switch on the corresponding lamp

Thanks sowari, but it dosent really solve my problem...

    Hi Deano

From your description so far it's a little hard to know exactly what you need. But I thought I'd have a play with distributors and lamps myself, and I thought this might possibly be useful (have a look at the attached picture):

    • There's an Audio Voicoe Combiner at the front of the structure, so the whole structure's monophonic.
    • Distrib (Event) sends a constant of 1 to one of 3 lamps, depending on Pos input; disconnected outputs send a 0, so this part of the structure effectively tells you which output is connected
    • Distrib (Audio) - whose Pos input's driven by the same knob - sends audio to 1 of 3 inputs on a mixer (which is just there to complete the audio chain, really), and to 1 of 3 level lamps.

So overall, the structure lets you switch between outputs, and shows "output connected" with a lamp and "output active" with a level lamp.

    Hope that's relevant?
