one week is gone and we got no answer....
do you still wonder why all threads about bugs, updates etc.. degenerate into flamewar
i think it's the information policy of ni.
we are customers and it's our right to be informed...
think about your car.... the company knows that the breaks are not working... should they tell you that they are not working....
    regards bodan

    How about this...

"...the upcoming 3.0.2 update. It is currently in beta testing, and is targeted for a release beginning of May."

How about this NI...in the future you can give me your new software release and I in return will give you a "targeted" date of when I will pay you for it. Then I will blow off that date and ignore your attempts to receive payment as well as your attempts to find out when the updated target date is for payment. Then eventually maybe pay you with a bad check. How's that sound?
Bottom line, we paid for the software. It doesn't work as advertised. You have our money so you could at least treat us with some respect! Keep us updated and don't make threats to close the thread becuse someone is upset that they feel ripped off.

I posted in this thread on May 18th that the scope of the 3.0.2 update has been expanded, and that the projected release date has been re-scheduled to early June. This is still valid. I have just added that info to the first post, too.

    Regards, Thomas

I am sick of the lies!

First we were told 3.0.2 would be released at the beginning of may, now June. just last week a member of the tech support team told me that 3.0.2 would be released this week. Its Thursday and now the target is some time in June, This is major B S ! I've not been able to successfully complete anything since February 07 due to the complete instability of this software.
I've sent several detailed describtions of my problem to tech support and I get these simple "blow me off" one sentence answers. "Try the 3.0.1 upgrade" The new 3.0.2 upgrade will be out in a few days"
I've been waiting around twitling my thumbs for too long now. Its time for results!

At least NI is now communicating with us in this thread which is really a big step forward.
They are working on it and in my opinion it's ok to wait and
have more bugs fixed. Let's see how it goes with the update.

Instead of lumping all the fixes into one large update why not have a few smaller updates starting with the most serious problems. If NI think that 3.0.2 will be a perfect one stop fix to all B2 problems they are hoping for allot.
Stepping updates has the advantage of letting each change bed in, revealing any subsiquent side effects or quirks on different systems.I'm not a programmer so I accept that it may be difficult to split some tasks becuase they are related.
The current NI bugfix policy seems heavy and slow. Some people only have 1-2 issues and don't want to wait for every imperfection to be ironed out.

This is so true. I have Motu's Mach five and they have been promising the update for version 2 for a year and a half and nothing. They don't even communicate with you unlike here. I have completely removed mach five from computer and have been trying to sell it. So at least give NI some credit. I think the support here is pretty good compared to others.

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for keeping us updated on the situation. It's been a while since I've been on this forum and it's good to see communication from NI.

Two questions- When I right click a cell and "Add Sample" in B3, it no longer has audition and sample properties as it did in B2. Is this fixed? I don't like using the built in browser and am sticking with B2 because of this.

Also, is there any chance on getting B3 to properly receive keystrokes in Cubase? The arrow keys finally work, but the function keys (and everything else) don't. Keystrokes work fine in Halion 3 so I don't think it a Cubase or configuration issue.

    Thanks!

I would be glad if i had SOME problems with B3. Have it 8 months now and was working fine with it for 3 months. Then crash, trying to install it about 20 times and not working anymore. Have also several NI-Products and they work good. But with this software they make me mad. Especially the information policy for customers couldn't be worse. All it needs is information on the update, wich bugs will be fixed and so on. But I assume the problems are wilder than expected, only this explains the constant delays and almost no informations. I understand that with the diversity of the operating systems it is hard not to release any bugs with a software. But with B3 they definitely f...... up. Like buying a car and I have to leave it in the garage for a year until the key is mine! NI, I want to rock!

How about the ability to save custom kits in the Battery Library folder so that you can load them via the browser?

That is the only bug I've ever experienced with Battery 3. When you save a custom kit in the library folder, sometimes when you load that kit up, Battery says it cannot find the audio sample files associated with that kit. A call into Tech Support told me that the samples were being corrupted, and if I saved the kit in a folder outside of the Battery 3 library, it would work fine, and it does. But I'd like to be able to save them in the library, just to be able to load them via the browser.

Is there a fix for this in 3.0.2?

Hi, I save them directly in the library folder and do not have this problem in 3.01, are you choosing save patch only with absolute sample paths when you save? That is what I do. However, when you do this, if you happen to move the path of the library, even if you update the path in the options, you would need to update the patches.

I bought the program after 3.01 was released, and I have only used it with the 3.01 patch installed.

I was saving the patch and samples, not just the patch only with absolute samples. It would work for about three or four days, then when I opened up my patch, it said my samples were corrupt.

This is due to design, the preview feature in Battery 3 relies on the browser. Additional preview options would require extensive changes to the underlying engine, so they are not feasible as a development priority.

This is a rather complicated issue where Battery users turned out to be very much divided. Some want Battery to receive keystrokes within a host, some want the host to receive them.

In the 3.0.2 version, keystrokes will not be taken over by Battery anymore when used in a host. It turned out that this is the concept that is popular with the majority of users.

Please get in touch with our tech support to get this looked into. It is not a known issue within Battery 3, so it's probably a specific issue with your configuration.
