For a long time I've had the following problem in R3: when switching a panel module to visible from invisible, or copying modules when copying macros containing them (I think when there is a diff between the instrument view and panel view) the panel module jumps way the hell out to the right or down the panel, so I have to scroll way down and drag it up.

    What a drag...

....sigh...this is still happening in R4

Actually, besides for the save bug where you can only use save once before having to use save as again, this is my biggest gripe with Reaktor. It just wastes so much time for me on a daily basis. I don't see why this hasn't been fixed.

[edit: crap, 600 posts... if i didn't know better i'd think i have no life!]

i think, i saw an option "disable automatic panel layout" somewhere in r4, could it be, that this will disable this annoying thing ?

mmm, a disable bug feature! how nice! hehe

Automatic layout refers to lining up instrumets in the ensemble in a rack like sort of manner (which is a nice addition, doing it manually sucked). It does not have anything to do with the insane placement of objects though on the panel. :-(

What I find is as your Reaktor session goes on, the objects get placed further and further away. It pays every 15 minutes (or when they start going way off) to quit Reaktor and relauch it, which seems to reset the positioning.

It's just ridiculous... it really is. Just put everything on top of one another.. even that would be much better than this. I spend sometimes 30 seconds dragging something up from the bottom-right netheregions of my ensemble.

Now 30 seconds multiplied by x number of panel items and you're wasting a LOT of time.

    Hi,

Another thing i find very annoying is, that i see no possibility
to move more than one panel objects in the same time by dragging a rectangle as it was possible in all versions before R4. Is there any workaround or an option to switch it on again which i didnt find ?
The only possibility i see is multiselect by ´click+strg´ (im on pc) and then i can move all selected items together.

    cheers

    Fix it, please.

...well! I thought I might have been doing something wrong, but clearly it is a well known bug...

...and probably something that will take a day to fix (I would imagine it has to do with not initializing or overwriting values when the A/B (instument/ensemble) visibility switches are set.

I do love Reaktor, I spend way too much time Reakting (my term for Reaktor hacking), but there are some basic things that could be fixed up and improved.

Say what? John, is this a Mac-specific bug or something? I do saves every 10 minutes or so (when things are going well), without having to use save-as. I haven't seen this mentioned before...

What you're seeing is actually the new, worse "Save Backup can't be turned off" bug.

What's happening is it saves a backup doc the first time you save the Ensemble, then when you save the Ensemble a second time, it tries to write a new backup doc. For some reason it won't allow the first backup file to be overwritten (which is odd as it is not locked and not open), and won't write it as "backup-2.ens". So it warns you you have been unsuccessful in writing a new backup file (that you didn't want in the first place.

But the actual document you are working on does get saved. So just "Save", and click OK on (and ignore) the warning dialog.
