    Hello,
I recently purchased Komplete 7 and, being quite excited to start using it, attempted to start installing it last night.

Things were going fine up until Kontakt Installation Disc B, however, when I got the following error message (see first attached image):
Additionally, I get the following error message trying to install the .pkg files from the disc (parts 5 and 6) -- see second attached image:
    Any ideas?

EDIT: In case it helps, I'm using the latest model iMac, 27" with an Intel processor, and OS 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard).

I've also tried running the .pkg files separately on Kontakt Disc B -- two of the three files (String samples part 5 and 6, I think they are) would not run and gave me an odd error message. I can post a screenshot of that error as well, if necessary.

    Thanks for your help!

It's the old broken disc problem again. Try reading a disk image from the faulty DVD(s) and mount that instead. If that fails, contact NI support.

Even with the separate .pkg files giving me the com.apple.controller error? That sounds more like a corrupt file than a disk read error.
And how would I go about doing that on a Mac? (Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question, I've always been a PC guy: I only recently switched to run Digital Performer and Pro Tools.)

    Thanks for your help,
    - J Graham

Sometimes when you copy a disk image rather than a file from it, things work better. Some voodoo with checksums, possibly. It's not guaranteed to work, but you can try this in Disk Utility:

Select "File->New->Disk Image from (Select a Device)…" and pick the inserted DVD from the dialog. Default options should be fine.

That should create a mountable DVD image - just double-click it when created. IF created, perhaps. If the disc is bad enough it will fail. Otherwise it might make a 7-8GB image. If it gets as far as creating an image without issue, the package files might just work.

I tried to create a disk image, it seemed to go without problem, but when I try to run the pkg files, I still get the com.apple.controller error -- I think the files must be defective.

How do I go about contacting tech support? As I understand it, you have to have a registered product to contact tech support -- but, of course, you can't register the product until it's been installed... sort of a Catch-22 situation there!

Thank you very much for your help so far, Ronny,
    - James

My attempts (three strikes and I'm out) at installation on my Macbook Pro fails at disc"C". I think I will just give up on old Native Instruments. I do not like paying $500.00 for aproduct that won't work, and then get forum advice to try a work-around. What's the matter with NI?

Well, the installation finally worked! Guess what? All I did was lightly clean off the disc. That's a tip from woodsman Jim Venture - make sure the dvds are cleaned. Now I am climbing the learning curve. Good luck everybody

Native Instruments' Tech Support did get back to me, much quicker than they seemed to have done for other customers, from what I could gather reading other forum threads – I feel like NI's response may have been expedited by the fact that I filed a complementary complaint through the Better Business Bureau... and I was a little shocked to find that Native Instruments had lost their BBB accreditation due to – you guessed it! – lack of / very slow replies to customers and general unwillingness to help resolve issues.

They gave me a link to a download of Kontakt Disc B, and shipped a replacement disc via snail mail, so I guess I can't complain on that front; I know that you run a risk with discs not working, especially when they're printed on such a massive scale; but I'm very disappointed that NI is well aware of the problem, and yet they haven't done anything about it – no product re-calls, a general attitude that makes it feel like NI thinks it's the consumers' fault that the disc install fails, not even a notice in the support forums / support f.a.q. that tells customers how to seek a replacement disc.
