    I just received Guitar Rig Mobile and spent the better part of 6 hours today trying to get it to work. Apparently, my computer was not recognizing the interface device. I had many conversations with tech support, who said it was a driver problem. Their solution was to download v. 3.2.1 of GRM from the site and then they sent me a new GRM I/O driver. After none of these suggestions worked, Tech suggested that I disable McAfee and install and also do the Windows XP tuning tips in the knowledge Base. I've tried it all, installing and unistalling, downloading, etc. and still the device's USB light flashes (indicating that it cannot interface with the software). The program does load but that's about it. My computer is only 6 months old has USB 2.0, Win XP Pro (SP 3), Intel Core duo (2), 3Ghz and 3.48 GB RAM. Not sure about sound card (although I know it should be loaded with a good one, but I haven't even been able to get that far yet so...).

    Welcome =)

    Support only went halfway here IMO. I've seen McAfee screw up USB installs on more than one machine.
    What I would do is completely uninstall McAfee; first by using add/remove programs, and then running the McAfee uninstall tool:

    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507

    Now, reboot and install your drivers.

    McAfee and/or Norton have no business being on a machine used for audio (or any home machine, for that matter): they're as bad as the viruses they're supposed to protect against. There's lot better options for an AV, and some are even free.

    Thanks. In all fairness to Tech support, they did suggest that I uninstall McAfee. However my machine came loaded with it and I do not have the disks so I tried just disabling it first. After the frustration of that day I had to take a break. I will either have to find my license info for McAfee or get in touch with the fellow who set up my machine. If I do uninstall McAfee and then load the GR drivers, will re-installing it create the same problem (or other problems)?

    In any event, I hope that is the solution.

    It could. Once again, you don't want McAfee on your machine.

    What AV software would you recommend?

    There's lots of options. One that I recommend for DAW use is Malwarebytes:

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    The free version's fine if you don't need an AV running all the time; it doesn't run in the background, yet is fully functional. The pay version will run in the background. I've used it to rid quite a few friends' machines of various nasties- and two of them had "functional" McAfee installs when they got the virus, and before I uninstalled it.

    I have business applications and other data that I need to protect. I also jump on and off the internet and use email from this computer. Does having an AV program that's not running in the background leave my computer vulnerable?

    If you're being an intelligent user and not clicking on unsafe links, etc.- no.
    That being said, even if you have an AV always running, you still should do a full scan every month to be on the safe side.

    guitar rig mobile

    The first thing you need to do is get a big F----ing hammer and smash the guitar rig mobile. I'm glad I got it free, because theres no way I'd pay for this piece of ****! Mine hooked up ok but then the problems began. It is increadibly un responsive, the input has to be jacked up so high, just to get the strings to respond, and then theres the delay after every time you hit the strings. The sound constantly breaks up, It totally freezes up whenever you try to record tracks. Then it wont let you save those tracks, it says your not allowed to do so. I know its not my computer, I have 3 times the memory, and 3 times the processing speed, this dam program needs. Guitar Rig Mobile SUCKS DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! And if you get it for free like I did for buying an Epiphone Guitar over $500.00, dont install it, drive over it, smash it crap on it. Or burn, it Its a piece of JUNK!
