    Hello.

I would like to have an external drive with the 16bit samples as library for live stuff.
And on another external harddisk with 24bit for production.

    Is this possible ?

    Thanx a lot

Does Akoustic Pianos have 16bit and 24bit samples?

Which bit rate are the samples?

Yes! I remember now. Its been a while since I installed.

I can't remember if Akoustik Pianos offers the ability to change the location of its sample library. (Its not in front of me right now.) If so, you could install the 16 bits in one place, and the 24 bits in another, and then simply change the file path where Akoustik Pianos looks for the samples.

The problem is once you've installed, e.g. the 16 bit samples...
and later you wanna go for higher qualitiy samples (24bit) on another location path youre not able to load these 24 samples cause the vst seems still to searching for the once installed sample version (16 bit)

Akoustik Piano comes w/ a library in 16Bit and one in 24 Bit format.
So it´s up to you which one you choose to install.

I mentioned early in a mail here, I found 16Bit samples existing in the 24Bit library too,- see Concert Grand samples II folder.

I always wondered why there are 16 and 24Bit samples mixed up in the 24Bit library but never got a reply on this.

I compared the content of my harddrive to the content on the orig. DVDs and found it to be exactly the same,- 1st assuming I did mistakes during install and updates in the past, but it wasn´t the case.

    any comments on this ?

uhh, this makes it a bit stranger
i'd never realized that there's also stored parallel the 16bit version when you've installed the 24 bit library...mhhh

now i had a look and i think these samples are just impulse responses or something like this, cause e.g. in concert grand samples folder 2 you only have 120 MB and this is nothing compared with the fullversion of 16 bit library ;)

Well, if I look into my Akoustik Piano library folders, 24Bit version installed,- I see the following:

    Bechstein samples II = 16Bit
    Boesendorfer samples II = 24Bit
Concert Grand samples II = 16Bit
    Steingraeber samples II = 16Bit

Folder: "Impulses": All samples are 24Bit

If you listen to the single wav-samples in the samples II folders mentioned above,- you truly listen to "room" sounds w/ a audible attack of the hammer hitting piano strings, so maybe these are responses too. But the smaller size samples in these folders are pure ( not room sound) short noises, maybe release samples of the hammers or such.

Compare and confirm this by opening a wav player (WMP p.ex.) and drag the single samples into it, listening to the single samples.

I wonder why it´s mixed up this way.

    Conclusion:

If there are mixed up samples used in the 24Bit library, why shouldn´t it be possible to install both libraries ( 24 and 16Bit) on the same harddrive and using ´em on demand ?

Akoustik Piano seems to handle mixed-ups ...

I don´t think they fix it, it´s well known since a long time and I mentioned this since I installed my Komplete version which included AP for the 1st time, thas more than 1 year ago.

Last but not least, I wonder if this issue never fixed causes other issues found in AP, don´t know.

I repeat myself here, but have to mention again I´m not satisfied w/ the update strategy of NI since a long time.
There are so much issues existing also w/ other sampling based instruments, being confirmed by NI but not fixed since years.

Presets and their behaviour in Elektrik Piano 1.5 p.ex.,- these compared to the 1st version of EP.

And there´s more w/ the modelling instruments:

PB range of Pro53 only 2 semitones and B4II distortion as also it doesn´t remember " 1' drawbar disabled if percussion is active" ...

Don´t forget Bandstand,- there´s nothing happening sice 2 years.

    Just only 4 examples.

NI prefers to create sample expansion packs for KORE player instead concentrate on features and bug fixes for keyboardplayers.

Sorry to say that, but that´s not what I expected by investing money into the Komplete range of products in the past.
