Hey! I have a quick question!

I have a Macbook Pro boot camped with windows 7. I installed Komplete 8 on the Windows partition but used an external HDD for the library content.

I want to install Komplete on OSX but want to use the same external HDD for the library content.

So, how do I install the programs and plugins but not the library content, because it's already there?

Also, how does Komplete know where to pull the sounds from> Do I have to manually tell it?

p.s. I have installed Paragon, so I can fully use the external HDD on Windows and OSX.

    Thanks in advance!

Just uncheck the sample libraries during installation. After that start the standalone versions of the applications (Kontakt, Battery) and set the library path in their options dialogs.

I'm looking to do this as well. Can you activate Komplete on both partitions without having to pay for it again?

You can activate three times before you get locked out.

I have always wanted to know however, if you uninstall, does it free up the activation or you have to contact NI to reset the counter. Perhaps someone else knows the answer to this?

You would need to contact NI.

The way it was explained to me at the Apple store is that there is no need to install anything if you purchase Parallel which allows you to use the Windows version of your products on the Mac. I won't know this for sure until they transfer everything and install Parallel in a couple of days. I was very specific in mentioning that I have Komplete 8 and the technician seem to know exactly what I was talking about as he explained that they had previous experience doing this with many people switching their studios from PC to Mac. Of course I'll give an update soon.

from my experience with Apple's "geniuses" I can tell you that they will tell you anything for you to buy something when they know something about it

from my experience with actually using Parallels and VMWare Fusion, I can tell you that the Windows installment is completely separate from OS X just like it is on Bootcamp

all Parallels does is let you load up a virtual installment of Windows which lets you use Windows software applications without having to boot out of OS X, it wont let you load up Windows VSTs on OS X or anything like that

you can access files from OS X just like you can in Bootcamp and will have to reinstall the Windows version of whatever software you want to use in there

the downside of using software like Parallels is that is completely boots Windows inside of OS X which separated the RAM depending on how you set it, the plus side is that it can do a lot more than Crossover which is best for small exe applications

You're absolutely right. But since my Mac is for my studio only I opted to return the Parallel software and just reinstall my NI & Pro Tools stuff. Also after watching a demo I'm not sure why anyone would want to have that cumbersome Parallel setup.

    why would you install parallels

well there are good reasons, for me, when i'm creating abstract or electronic music I prefer the environment in FL studio. As I like to mix while I'm writing and I like to mix in Logic Pro the fastest way to go about this is to run fl in parallels. Losing time is losing inspiration.

And how should i go about doing it, i use ableton live 9 but its currently installed on my mac osx, i also have.maschine 2.4 installed on my osx. Does this mean i would also have to install maschine sw and live 9 sw on parallels or is it fully jntegrated without reinstalling into parallels? Hey y'all, just wanted to check in about this concept, does it work? Any and all info is highly appreciated as always thanks in advance
