    hi guys,

I am trying to install K8 on my Mac (10.6.8)
I do specify in the installer that I want the samples installed on a specific harddrive in my mac pro. Then only 5,4 Gb of data with the plugins etc has to be installed. At first the installer specifies that it's going to take 13 then 8 and as it continues the installation time gets longer and longer and is now halfway and still 33 minutes to go. Is this normal behavior?

What confuses me is that I realise that installing the samples of 190 Gb will take time but if I go to the specified samples folder, there is nothing installed yet.

    Sorry if this is noobish:(

    Thanks anyway!

    Hi guys ,

    I take this thread...

The " content " of my Komplete 8 is actually install on a external HDD .

I'd like to copy some sound banks ( Battery 3 , Studio Drummer ) on my computer directly ( MACbook , OSX snow leopard ) but I don't really know where install it...?

I got different space with NI Folders , and Battery 3 folders ( for example ) :

what is the best place ? :

HD / Application / NI /Battery 3 / and then, for each plugin :create " library folder " and copying the right bank inside ?

    or :

HD/Bibliotheque/ Application support / NI / then create "library foler " for each plugin ?

    or :

User / App Support / NI / and same thing ?

there's so much space with NI folder on my mac , I don't want to do something wrong...:S

    Hope you'll understand ...
and hope this thread would serve to other new user's

    Thanks for all
Dstrb , a new french NI addict

    Hi guys!

Just wanted to offer some install tips. To give you a lil background, I am using K8 ultimate on a Win7 64 machine.

I just upgraded yesterday from K7 to K8 ultimate. It only took about 45 mintues. k7 took me like 3 hours to install! Granted I took breaks but it was still a long a** time.

You can tell K8 to install the samples anywhere you'd like. The main vsts will be installed in your program folders. I first installed mine on an external hd because my main hd didn't have enough space. It was running really slow for me though. It was on an eSata drive, which is supposed to be fast but, idk.

Anyways, I cloned my drive and moved it back to the internal 500gb 7200rpm drive I bought last year. Runs smoothly compared to previous install.

Here's the knowledge base article about storing and moving your sounds, this should help:
