I'm having trouble installing my recently purchased Komplete Elements under OSX Mountain Lion. I'm aware there are some ML issues listed already but I haven't seen the one I'm experiencing.

When I run the .mpkg file from the downloaded ISO the installer icon just "bounces" for a while, then does nothing - it seems to have crashed. Judging by the crash report (attached) it seems to have something to do with the newly introduced sandboxing in ML. It's not a Gatekeeper issue, I already disabled that.

Is there anyone here who has a quick fix or workaround for this issue? I posted the question via the website support form a few days ago but haven't received a response yet.

No, I haven't found a fix ... I suppose I'll give NI a call later this week, they haven't responded yet.

Thanks for your reply, it's nice to see I'm not the only one who has this issue.

Quick update: NI support have acknowledged the problem and supplied a workaround which unfortunately doesn't work for me, but I'll post it here anyway (you never know):

    - Open the "Installer" application. You can find it within the "CoreServices"
    folder (/System/Library/CoreServices)

    - Select the Installer that is found on the mounted ISO image.

Now the installation should run like you´re used to.

Holy infinite loop, PackMan! To me it looks like a thread is building a list until it crashes due to a stack (memory) error. The fault could lie with Apple's Installer program in this case.

The only useful solution (until NI investigate this) I can think of is using Pacifist or something to extract it and manually place everything, but that takes a bit of knowhow, and I'm not sure the package manifests will be written.

    It worked!

    Snader,

thanks for the response. I followed the instructions and it installed :).

I opened the iso file up so that a drive mounted in the file system. Then opened installer and searched for the mounted drive and sleeked the .mpkg file. It then installed correctly.

I hope you get it to work!

Hm, good for you ;-) installation started for me too, but the installer bails out on me at the last stage with another error message.

Ah, after some more tinkering I got it to work!

It appears that somehow the downloaded iso file got mounted as "quarantined". You can check this by typing "mount" in a terminal window. For me, it looked like this:

/dev/disk1 on /Volumes/Komplete Elements Mk2 (udf, local, nodev, nosuid, read-only, quarantined, noowners, mounted by sanderzwier)

Somehow, everytime I opened the iso file it got mounted this way, even though I had gatekeeper disabled all along. This seems like a bug at OSX's end to me.

I messed around a lot but I think this finally did it:

    - I unmounted the disk image
    - I went to System Settings, Security & Privacy and put "Allow applications downloaded from" on the original, middle setting. Closed all windows and after that, put it back on the "Anywhere" setting
    - I mounted the disk image again, this time the "quarantined" flag was gone
    - Launched the installer via the workaround described above.

    Fixed it

    Hey everyone.
I was getting stuck with this issue too. Managed to start the install, but it always failed right at the end.

    Here's my solution.
Copy the file to your desktop
Open Terminal (in application / utilities)
    Type: cd ~
    Type: cd Desktop
    Type: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine Komplete_Elements_Mk2_100.iso
    Close Terminal

Basically you've removed the quarantine lock on the downloaded file.

Then click the file to mount the Komplete Elements Mk2 installer drive
Open this mounted drive (Komplete Elements Mk2)
Click on the Komplete Elements Mk2 Installer Mac.mpkg

You should now be in business!

You can easily tell if this is the problem by
mounting the installation drive (clicking on the file you downloaded)
    opening a Terminal window and
    typing: mount
If the word "quarantine" comes back in the response you need to unmount the drive (press the eject button next to it) and do the instructions above.

    Good luck!

I had a dog and his name was BINGO. Ok i got it to work, mine is probably the simplest method with the help of snaders method.

I had privacy set to allow all, i changed it to apple and apple approved or whatever it says. Mounted the ISO file so it was on the left of the finder window along with applications/pictures etc. Opened the installer via core service.....then clicked on the mounted image, and then clicked on the installer and it worked!
