    Hi,

I had the same question back then when doing U9 over U8... basically I want to install everything but keep the previous versions so I can load older projects without error.

Last time NI support advised me to just choose a new installer location.

This is problematic as I don't have endless disk space for dedication to duplication of samples etc.

Is there a way to safely install U10, and gain all of the new materials, without installing duplicates and keep U9 and lower content? I also want to ensure that I can continue to install updates when required.

There really should be a way to handle all of this in the installer... surely this is the most common practice in a studio environment.

Thanks for any tips or help on this. I did try to find these answers in the setup manual, and via FAQ's and support forums.. but no one seemed to address this specifically.

Well, usually the installer should recognize which applications and libraries are already installed.
But you should be able to un-select certain apps and libraries manually (in case the existing ones aren't recognized as already installed) so you only install the 'new' stuff ...

To be on the safe side, before doing the K10 'update', you might also consider doing a backup of your existing libraries, just in case.

For an overview of the differences between K9U and K10U also have a look at Ultimate Outsiders comparison sheet: http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2014/09/the-complete-history-of-komplete-all.html

You can always download and install updates from the download section (in case you encounter any problems with updating via Service Center): www.native-instruments.com/en/support/downloads/
