    Hello all,

I just got my summer 50% off Kontakt 4 upgrade. I have version 3 installed on my machine already. It seems that the upgrade comes with the entire library, not just 10 gigs of new content.

The question is do install the library over the existing one? or install the library from scratch....as it is right now, I have the kontakt 2 and the kontakt 3 library on my system plus the library that comes with the free kontakt player. what should I do?

    Thanks

The trick is to delete the 'Z-Samples' folders of the Kontakt 3 library, then batch resave all the Kontakt 3 library NKI files to point to the Kontakt 4 sample folders.

This keeps the K3 NKIs for backward compatibility (especially useful in the case of, for example, Akkord guitar, which has slightly less features in K4) but avoids using double the disk space.

Search the forum for more info on the library contents.

iain...are you sure about that? I also have Kontakt 3.5, thinking about getting the upgrade package also. Been awhile since I tried it but I seem to recall that the batch re-save function doesn't work in ver 3.5

Definitely, works fine here. Batch resave was broken before 3.5 but fixed in 3.5.

Resave the parts of the library separately so you are sure what's going on - band, vintage, etc.

Obviously it is also good practice to back up your nkis first.
