    Hi,

I'm new to Reaktor, but been synth programming / engineering 25 years.

In the Reaktor structure window, when I select a module, and press Ctrl-C to copy it, or choose "Copy" from the edit menu, Reaktor crashes with a "Runtime error - Abnormal termination" message.

It does this every time, and under all circumstances it would appear.

Is there a workaround for this?

    I'm running WinXP

    TIA.

sounds a bit like a dongle error...

... cause mine works well and i think not many others may have this problem (as long as they have a dongle)?

    It's not a dongle error - it's a C++ runtime error

I can't see how it could be my dongle. In any case the rest of the application seems fine, it's just "Copy" that crashes.

To be precise, I've just noticed that the dialog box says "Microsoft C++ Library Error".

If you click on OK you get the standard "Application Error" dialog box: "The instruction at "0x73dd1c65" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read" Click on OK to terminate the program"

    Hi,
I seem to remember having that problem a long time ago...it seems to me that all I did to fix it is to reinstall Reaktor. When uninstalling, uninstall the dongle drivers, also. Then, reinstall using the custom option and DON'T install the dongle drivers until you run the 3.05 update. Then, with the 3.05 update, run the full update-that will install the new dongle drivers. DON'T forget to remove your dongle before uninstalling/reinstalling. Run the 3.05 patch, reboot and put your dongle back in.It should run then.
    Hope this helps-

    This made no difference

    Uninstalled Reaktor and Dongle stuff.
    Reinstalled from the 3.0.5 update.

Problem remains the same. Instant crash/abort on Ctrl-C

Does anyone else have any ideas?

    Any ideas on this anyone?

    This crash is very repeatable.
I'm surprised to be the only person getting it.

well the copy action in reaktor accually creates a temp file. what could of happened is the file somehow was messed up and cannot be replaced or rewritten, thus crashing reaktor. go to your reaktor settings, go to the directories tab, and get your temp directory. now get out of reaktor and browse your drive over to that temp folder. delete paste.mdl.
    delete paste.mdl.
    delete paste.mdl.
    delete paste.mdl.
    delete paste.mdl.

    ;) yay.

    PROBLEM SOLVED

    Timothy

Thanks for your help. As soon as I read your post I knew that you were on the right track.

In fact, the problem turned out to be that Reaktors preferences were set to a temp directory that did not exist.

(Reaktor still shouldn't CRASH under such circumstances though - I'll report it)

    Thanks again,
