Instrument libraries no longer recognised

    Kontakt has suddenly stopped seeing my libraries. Service Centre says everything in my Komplete 9 installation is fully up-to-date and fully authorised, including all my libraries. But none of them show up in the instrument list. And if I browse to where the instruments are located and try to open one that way, it says that the instruments are encrypted and can't be accessed without proper authorisation.

    It seems to be the same with other K9 instruments missing all their presets and instruments

    HELP!

    It's all a relatively new installation on a new iMac.

    Someone had a similar problem with the Factory Library.

    Reinstalling everything corrected it in that case.

    I looked throughout the Service Centre Overview and although everything was activated, it needed me to tell it where all the standalone apps were … which is odd. But this still makes no difference. None of the Libraries, including the Factory Library, show up in the Library list in Kontakt. But if I use the browser to find the instruments, I can locate them, but if I click on one of them to open that way I get this message:

    For obvious reasons, I don't want to reinstall the complete Katastrophe if I don't have to (NOTE TO NI: Can we pls have a new instrument called Katastrophe?). There must be something very basic that's happened. It was working fine until now. I have installed quite a lot of things, but can't think what would have caused this to crap out.

    I leave for 2 mnths OS in 2 days and I needed to write some material for a project I'm taking with me. I don't need to spend the time fixing up a fault (says me, shouting at the cosmos).

    What OS version are you running?

    What is the version of Kontakt 5 you are running? (the latest is 5.3.0)

    If you read through the link I posted, did you notice any system differences comparing yours to the OP's in that thread?

    Just gathering what is in common and what is different.

    Is anything set up to auto-update?

    I'm running Mac OS 10.8.5

    Kontakt is vers.5.3.0.6464

    And just to add that it's the same with every Komplete 9 instrument … libraries and presets all gone.

    The only one remaining is in Battery 4, where I'd separately installed the Battery 3 library as a User Library, because I was cross that they'd left out things like the Jazz Kits.

    So I'm wondering if the .nicnt files might be corrupted. You seemed to suggest that recognition depends on these files. If all the Libraries are in place and the Service Centre says all are activated, there's clearly some central issue.

    Roughly how long had you had things working, in both span of time since installation was completed and then also actual operating hours?

    Did you update to 5.3.0 immediately? (I do not know what version shipped on your discs)

    Did anything auto-update?

    You might attempt reinstalling a single library to see if it corrects the problem for that one. If that works you could reinstall only those that you need for this project before your trip. It would be the known solution as opposed to an open-ended troubleshoot. At this moment you have the most time and every second it decreases. If you can lock a solution down and see that you could get things running with enough time to complete your project I would recommend beginning this now. During a break or while waiting put in a support ticket and maybe people will offer more help here as well.

    Can't remember what version shipped in the boxed set, but I certainly think 5.3 is an update from the original install.

    The installation is only a matter of weeks old … 4 maybe … and as I said, it all worked swimmingly, right up to, and including this update. So I can't think what's changed.

    I've just looked at the Service Centre again. On the ACTIVATE page it show this:

    So, Komplete 9 is green ticked, but says NOT ACTIVATED. I've checked the Serial # and it's all correct.

    And on the OVERVIEW page, this:

    So everything is activated, but not Komplete 9 itself.

    Je ne comprend pas!

    What do you see when you select "Show Details" of the Komplete 9 in the Overview window?

    I'd closed Service Centre and reopened. Now it says Komplete 9 IS Activated in OVERVIEW … shows the serial # and lists all the apps. Everything looks to be in order.

    But I go to Kontakt and still nothing shows up in the Libraries.

    I would try the single library reinstall now. At least you will be moving on something. It seems like a problem between the later OS X and Kontakt versions. If this is the case you could end up having to reinstall things more than once until NI resolves it. If it works with one chances are you will keep them working to get your project done before it recurs.

    Hmmm ... I'll try, and hopefully a sane long-term solution will eventuate ... eventually.
