    Hi
Trying to install Kontakt 3.5 but got this ...

"Cannot proceed with this update, because the application cannot be found in the stored installation directory. If you have manually renamed the application, move it back to it's original location, then start the installer again. Alternatively, use the original full installer to reinstall before using this update installer."

I un-installed Kontakt and reinstalled with all default paths and am still getting the above message. This is a PC installation with Sonar as my host.
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks
    SS

Delete the Install.txt in Kontakt directory. Just reinstall the 1st disc of Kontakt 3. Use the default install path c:\\program files\native instruments\kontakt.
    Then Upgrade to 3.5.

Hope this helps. Worked for me.

Many thanks Phizal. Worked, and I'm delighted. Take a week off!
Boy - she's booting along now! Well done NI!

I'm having the same tedious problem trying to install this blessed update. You'd think NI could write a modern installer moan, moan. bleat etc.....

I have read Phizal's suggestion but I can't find this Install.txt file on my Mac G5.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Life's too preciously short to waste it updating like this. Its 2009 for goodness sake NI, get with the beat Baggy!

    Kontakt 3.5.o Setup

I had the same problem today. I called NI, they told me to open Kontakt, go to options - load/import and choose your library path. Close Kontakt and then setup of 3.5.0 went fine...

I tried this. Apart from the fact my library path was already set correctly, I tried it anyway. It still won't let me update. Guess I'll get on the phone once my irritation has subsided.

I un-installed and started from scratch. It was a surprisingly quick process.

Please, tell me it's a joke. Update failure because the application cannot be found in c:\program files\native instruments\kontakt ? Can I update ONLY when i have my kontakt in THIS directory ? If I want update I must reinstall Kontakt ? Forget it.
    Shrootyruss is right. It's 21 century :p

I hope tomorow will be 3.5.1 update :p

    NI ... yellow card.

I tried this too. Oddly, my library path was supposedly not set although I've been loading instruments into K3 for months. So I set the library path and the install is still not working. I agree. An upgrader should simply work without all this hassle. I've been an hour and a half on this problem so far, posting in forums, checking my system, calls to Apple. It's ridiculous.

One question - when NI says to set the library path, does that mean just for the library that came with K3 or the folder with all your K3 libs including 3rd party ones?

Edit: I just re-ran the installer for K3 on my Mac system (minus the various library installs) and then the update worked fine. Didn't take too long either. Wish their installer had said "If the directory appears to be correctly in place, then re-install K3 from the original install disc and then run the update installer." That's similar to what the error message directed but would have been a useful clarification. And would have saved me two hours of unnecessary troubleshooting.

    anyhow,

is the VST-version for 3.5. also a 3.5 version or an older version? If I open the VST in my host, it shows an older version from 2007. The standalone version is 3.5. .

Must there be a 3.5. VST of Kontakt on my Computer?

    Kontakt 3.5.0 Installer

I'm a new user of Kontakt (I got the July deal on Komplete).
So far I find Komplete to be an amazing set of instruments and an incredible deal, particularly Kontakt, which I instantly fell for.

The installer for the Kontakt 3.5.0 update is cryptic, badly written and badly designed.
The "documentation" for the Kontakt 3.5.0 update installer is pathetic.

Here's hoping I can get my Kontakt back without wasting an entire evening or having to call anyone.

    That is all.
    ---
    Update:

After reinstalling Kontact 3.0, I ran the 3.5 updater again. This time it worked beautifully. So beautifully I was practically confused.

My heartfelt apologies go out to the hardworking programmers I have needlessly slandered.

I have chosen not to edit my first post as means of keeping myself humble.

I have followed your lead Camillo and re-installed the applications only from the original installation disc. Just as you say, the updates then installed without any problems and the programs work fine. All this only took half an hour and you saved me a phone call to NI TechSport so thanks for posting your results, it's been a godsend.

Good work on the updates NI, next time please update the updater. Most serious users (and quite a few frivolous ones) are going to have their libraries located on separate drives as most DAWS recommend this. I think I've made my point so I won't go on.

If you moved the library, you got to edit registry not the option.(or re-install Kontakt3)
but DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    1.
    run regedit.exe.
    open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt3
and rewrite ContentDir to your present path of the library.

    2.
    then run setup.exe.

I successfully updated my Kontakt3 in this way.
    Wish this could be help!

P.S sorry for my poor English:p
