Check out F Major's video on integrating Maschine into Logic. His You tube channel is Altruwest. Sorry, could paste in the link for some reason.

I have used F Major's template and all of this works fine with drum kits, but I cannot get it work with instruments. Can anyone give me some help here? Don't be afraid to break it down. I am a logic novice.

    Thanks,

in Maschine, choose Sounds To MIDI Channels - not Sounds to MIDI Notes

Figured it out. If you want an instrument/sound to play in logic, first restore defaults in sound midi batch set up, then enable sound midi settings on your sound/ instrument. Works like a charm. Thanks for the help everyone,

    cheers for the link.

However, do we use his template? or the Massive template?

Also, im struggling to get it working, when i assignt group a to midi 1, and then group b to midi 2 etc... if i go back in, they all end up switching to midi 1, or whatever the last midi channel i selected. So, once i assign group A to midi 1, Group 2 to midi to Group 3 to midi 3 etc up to Group H midi 8... when i click on group A again... its set to midi 8. Something seems off... :/

This is a cool video. One thing I'm confused about is why he went into the environment. Most of this can be done without having to go to the environment. Am I missing something?

i agree this can be done outside of the environment, but then it is a good way to get people to dip their toes in the Environment water, without fear of drowning

Yeah the environment page is pretty scary... especially when it does things you don't expect (setting up an arpeggiator is notorious for this)

Now that I've set up Maschine in my Logic template, I have my groups routed to different MIDI channels. But say I have a drum kit on one group/channel, how can I send the 16 different pads out to different audio channels? For instance if I wanted to have different effects on the kick, the snare etc.

fwiw, SFLogic NInja's Arpeggio tutorial is good.

Re: Audio Channels, same as before....choose a Sound, click on the Out Tab and then go to Main Out and change from the default - Group - to an Output of your choice:

Thanks for checking out the video folks. I should have mentioned that this was just one of many ways to work in Logic, its not the only way. The setup that I demonstrated assumes that you will use Maschine for drum kits and oneshots, and probably use logic for instrument sounds.

The environment aspect is not requisite, you could similarly open Maschine as a Multitimbral Audio instrument and use the midi batch setup. For me the use of the environment allows me a bit more integration and gives me a way to more deliberately add Maschine midi tracks to my logic sessions. The Multitimbral instrument method requires that I specify how many tracks I will use before I even start working. I dont prefer this because it immediately puts 16 tracks on my screen, and I dont like looking at extra tracks when I work.

I'm going to do a similar video regarding Pro Tools in the future.

Thanks for checking in. It's really amazing that someone of your stature takes the time to be so generous and check in with the rest of us who are out here trying to make music. This set up makes all the difference. Once I figured it out, my workflow improved so much. You are a good dude!

I get where its going. But how is it being represented in the mixer? or do i need to set up all that 8x stereo business?

    thanks

    you mean in Logic?

with Maschine 1.6.2, you can use the 16 X Stereo version of Maschine. you will need to add 15 AUX Channels, clicking on the + Button on the Maschine Channel in the LOgic Mixer.
