intel mac update

Hey Zed,

I have the stand-alone AC Box Combo, which I use for nearly everything. I am going for a 70s classic/art rock tone a la Brian May of Queen (my custom guitar uses vintage-wound Burns Trisonics). The AC Box sim by NI crushed all comers I have tried, and I had previously been a very pro-Line-6 guy.

Not having it UB is killing me, though, as I just bought a dual proc MacBook Pro, which I use as my main machine. What is your opinion of the Vox AC30 sim in Amplitude 2.1? Have you messed with it much? Is there a treble booster model available?

NI clearly has the best AC30 sounds, but hey--a lot of good that does me with my Intel Mac! So give me the skinny on Amplitude.

It's really hard for me to compare just that amp. They have a bunch of British Tube 30 presets, and they're not as instantly usable as the presets on the NI AC30 box. Also, I'm not an expert on those amps. I would say that the NI Marshall box kind of sux, and the Amplitube presets have more parameters, so it's easier to start there and make it work. The Boogie stuff is pretty good. You should go to the IK Multimedia site and download the demo. All that aside, for the price and the quality, if NI could get this UB stuff together (I'm also waiting for B4 UB, which is truly amazing), Guitar Combos would still be a great product.
