Interface & sampling

I have only 2 suggestions. Scalable interface and live sampling direct to Kontakt. Look at Halion 6 one updated with these functions one year ago. Wake up Native Instruments !!!

 

HALion's GUI is not scalable, though. It's resizeable, but you cannot zoom many of the elements - it still has some pretty tiny buttons to target, in some cases worse than Kontakt...

I don't think live sampling will be coming to Kontakt, personally... But at least there are other options for that.

 

OK not scalable ... but resizable Live sampling should be the main sampler property because it's a sampler, not a sample player ! Self-recording of samples is a feature that gives the greatest pleasure in using any sampler ... IMO. Sampler in Maschine it is good example of this feature

 

"Sampler" can both be considered a portmanteau of "sample player" OR "sample recorder"

 

Certainly the modulation scaler in table mode - which is extremely useful e.g. with Key Position for making adjustments for individual notes, when they've been unevenly sampled - is hideously difficult to use. And I do wish we could adjust that tiny bottom window of the Browser on the Auto tab.

 

Very much agreed. However, did you know you can export the table as txt file, tweak the numbers, then reimport it? It's a hidden feature, but it's mentioned in the manual - page 330, section Modulation in Kontakt, Assignment Controls.

 

Thanks ED, as always very helpful. (I did try opening the nkp file but couldn't make head or tail of it)

That said, the GUI could and should be improved here - these kinds of adjustment are made while listening, and need to be immediate.
