Sup fellas, Quick question what audio cards do you recommend that can do 4 channel mixing other then the Native Instruments 8DJ and 10.
I believe those are now discontinued. has Traktor dont really have any alternatives?

oh btw thank you! sorry hope this posts doesn;t violate rules.

Depends mainly on your budget, the connection type (USB, etc.) and your operating system (driver support and compatibilty). Any additional features (like MIDI-I/O, amount of inputs/outputs, etc.) are also a price factor.

    Just as example:
    • An entry level option with a good price/performance-ratio is the ESI Gigaport HD+: https://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd+/
    • RME audio interfaces are known for their rock solid stability and performance, but are also more expensive.
    • And there are also lots of options from other manufacturers like Steinberg, Focusrite, MOTU, etc. (just to name a few)

When I first bought Traktor Pro (just the software) I also bought a 2 channel sound card, and everything worked perfect, including the 4 deck mixing.

4 deck mixing works ok with the 2 channel interface if you mix internally and use Traktors mixer.
You only need 4 channels when your mixing externally. Like an audio 10 routed back to an analogue mixer on each channel.

In addition to these two options:

It's also possible to use 4 Traktor Decks with a 2-stereo/4-mono-channel interface in external mixing mode ;)
But in this case you'll have to route & share multiple Traktor Decks through the same channels. As example:
    • Traktor Deck A & Deck C: Channel 1/2
    • Traktor Deck B & Deck D: Channel 3/4

So the number of required channels for an audio interface depends in general on the workflow and how each of the 4 Traktor Decks are used.

I have two x1’s combined with two turntables running through an a 10. Due to my age and no longer really playing out, I have all the wires hidden and it’s a real pain to unhook. Was looking for a cheap sound card that would allow me to use both controllers on 4 decks. Alexmci, you mentioned mixing internally. Would that be done through a midi controller? I couldn’t imagine doing that with a mouse. I have an old mixer and now that I’m not u hooking turntables and my mixer, id like to be able to just grab the computer and the x1’s and play on my boat with.l little work. Sorry for the life story,

In general, Traktor's interface can be controlled via (a combination of) mouse, keyboard and/or a MIDI controller (like the X1).

Internal mixing mode basically means that the audio output from all Traktor Decks is mixed internally in Traktor to a stereo output signal (which is sent through the master output). In this case an audio interface with 2 stereo (or 4 mono) outputs would suffice (one stereo channel for master output and one for monitor output).

In comparison External mixing mode let's you assign separate audio output channels to each Traktor Deck. So, as example, for routing each of the 4 Traktor Decks to separate outputs, an audio interface with at least 4 stereo (or 8 mono) outputs would be required (like your NI Audio 10 or the ESI Gigaport HD+ mentioned in post #4).
