    Hello, dear community.

I'm the user of Komplete 11 and Avid's Sibelius.8, and I have a question about the interlocking between Komplete 11 and Sibelius.8
If you have the experience of using notation program such like Finale or Sibelius, you know you can use 3rd party VST or AU sounds in your notation program.

I have Komplete 11 Ultimate version. And for my orchestration, I normally use "String Ensemble Essential" for my main string and sometimes I use Kontakt 5 Factory library's basic string samples.

When I try to import Kontakt 5 Factory library sounds into Sibelius.8, it runs smoothly and also it works well when I tried to change any dynamics (Such like Crescendo or Decrescendo) or articulations.

The problem happened when I try to use String Ensemble Essential in Sibelius. I successfully imported that sound library into Sibelius, but when I tried to adjust some dynamics (i.e: Crescendo or Decrescendo, mezzo piano, forte) in the Sibelius mixer window, it wasn't applied to my sound. Unlike the Kontakt Factory library, String Ensemble Essentials provides several control options to users (Modulation, Expression, Dynamics etc). So I set up certain components first and then applied that library to Sibelius engine. But somehow my dynamic never changed. It always worked when I import Factory Library into Sibelius, but it always didn't work when I imported any library which has several control options. (i.e String Ensemble, Damage, Action Strike, India)

Can someone explain why it doesn't work and how to solve this problem? It's an important issue for me but unfortunately, I couldn't find any answers from the internet.

Please let me know if you have had a similar experience or if you know how to solve these issues

    Thank you!

    Hi
It does not look like you ever got feedback on this. Did you find a way to make Sibelius control the control options? I think harnessing the power of instrument plug ins via notation software is an intriguing possibility. Does it work?

    Hi Pablo
I don't know about these notation programs I found them limiting but that was a few years back, but yes it works. The aforementioned seemed to be geared for making a nice printable score. What I use is a combo, I do my scoring in Myriad harmony assistant which has support for vst but it is more geared towards scoring but for the money it's the best out there tons of features unlimited size in your scores, then export the tracks as midi means they open in any daw. I use myriad Harmony assistant to make printable scores to hand out to musicians.

I use sonar platinum which also has notation not full blown to do my "music". I use their notation area to do my sound. One can activate things like key switching via the notation which clutters your score with wrong notes and would be meaningless to a real musician, you know what they mean, one reason I mainly use sonar for music but myriad for printable scores. But you must use or draw envelopes for volume, mod etc. actually gives one huge control more than say a crescendo would in a notation soft but it is not as automatic but still not hard. Symphony essentials responds to mod wheel and depending on the kontakt instrument some respond to mod and or volume changes. Session horns/strings pro responds to various things and seems more full featured.
I typically do all my scoring composing and mix down besides then adding live sounds/recordings etc. in sonar which is free software now. Myriads support for vst is growing and I can load reactor and other softsynths fine but I think they are working on kontakt support as I recently emailed them.

Thanks RM. I never checked out Harmony Assistant, although I know Myriad from their wonderful PDFtoMusic Pro which I use a lot.
I've been looking around and just yesterday downloaded Dorico 3 Pro as a demo, so I have 30 days to evaluate. So far, I really like it, it seems to have more sequencer type features than Sibelius, which I like because I'd like to have some of those capabilities in a notation setting, rather than poor notation in a sequencer setting... And it seems that for working with video it is ahead of the rest. I used Finale for close to 20 years (learned 1.0 in college!) and lately Sibelius, but I also spend a lot of time in Ableton Live. Perhaps Dorico will give me a "unified" environment.

    Hi Pablo,
Glad you know of Myriad, you might at some point check out sonar which I think is remarkable. I've used cakewalk since version one when they sent free updates via floppy disk. It would be great if all manufactures got together and made a standard channel like volume or mod wheel where the musical symbols would work and be attachable to midi or Music xml. I wish NI would not only be keyboard oriented but have a note editor with a keyswitch strip and or recognize all the musical symbols after all these are universal symbols understood by the whole world. If NI recognized musical notation symbols there would be no need for keyswitching, staccato notes would be interpreted as such imagine strings could recognize up and down bowings and legato symbols, tremolo, pizz all automatically, in an age of the supposed AI how primitive is our reality.
