Hard drives are one of the few areas where you want to stay internal for speed purposes. Not to mention, it could get yanked out.

If you only use Traktor on one PC, just get an internal drive.. in general, it's faster and won't get yanked out. Mechanical (internal and external) hard drives fail over time also, so keep this in mind, but they usually last many years before giving out.

If you use Traktor on multiple PCs and have to constantly transfer data, you may be better off with an external. If your Internal won't hold enough and can't find an internal that fits your computer, you may need an external too.

I go between my home PC and laptop, since I've had bad experiences with my laptops burning out quicker. So a single external drive might benefit me if I'm constantly adding new songs to both HDs. On the other hand, you're going to have to back it up somewhere anyway, so it really doesn't make much difference.

You can use a Mac formatted drive on a PC using the Macdrive software. I just tried it out with Traktor the other day and it works fine.

Mac OS can natively read NTFS but not write it.
Hence the driver-structure of MacOS is pretty cool, there is a free ntfs-file-system driver which works FLAWLESS.
I have Windows 7, Mac OSX Snow Leopard on the same notebook and both use the same Itch and Traktor-libraries.
You can get the tool clled NTFS-3G here: http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/

Agree with this completely. I have used both internal and external and didn't notice any difference in performance. I would recommended using the internal drive and backing up to an external drive(I do weekly back ups). Had my laptop top die on me once so i used a friends laptop/back up laptop, loaded it with traktor and was ready to go again with my external drive.
