    Hi,

I have a problem syncing music, any music, to my iPad - no music at all is being synced with the iPad from my macbook. I know this is not directly an issue for NI but, without music on my iPad i can't use the TraktorDJ app! I was wondering has anyone else had the same, or similar problem, and if there is a solution to it!

I'm running the iOS7 (with the latest updates) and I'm also running the latest version of iTunes (the latest update was installed today). I only use my iPad (version 3) for my DJ'ing, so have iTunes playlists set up to organise and manage the tracks.

I've tried various ways to fix the problem including a device hard reset, removing all selected tracks, syncing non-playlist albums, etc… nothing seems to resolve this problem. What makes this more of an issue for me is that I am using traktorDJ with the Z1 to play out regularly.

Has anyone any thoughts on this? NI, have you come across this problem?

    Thanks
    Carl

You probably dont have it set to manually manage music. If you are using the actual "sync" button your doing it wrong. I drag & drop everything into my ipad, the sync system is too automated that I dont know what will and wont be on my device half the time.

Hi Declanexpress, thanks for the input. Your method is something i have tried but the iPad is still not syncing music to it. Before the recent updates for iTunes and iOS, the sync process worked perfectly, i had playlists set-up and the iPad and iTunes (Macbook) with no problems at all, i could even 'drag & drop'. but now, nothing at all works.

Does anyone from NI have any comments on this, I know I'm not alone with this problem as there is a lot of discussion happening around the mac forums.

To fix this issue you need to reset all your settings, turn off sync to remove everything on your iPad, then resync (and fix your settings, won't take too long).

7.1b5 has fixed a lot of the syncing issues. In the meanwhile follow these comprehensive instructions:

Firstly there are two separate bugs: The "Waiting for sync to start" bug where you'll get stuck on this step. That one is simple. iTunes can't sync when your passcode is locked. Unlock your phone, and make sure it doesn't lock before you finish the sync. Stupid I know.

The second one was much much harder to nail down. The symptoms include: "ghost songs" on your phone that will stop new syncs, cause your iPhone to skip over them when playing/shuffling. And not having your phone sync new or all of your songs. The common denominator: When looking at your phone in iTunes there will be grey circles in front of a bunch of songs/media.

A million different temporary cures from logging in and out of the iTunes store on your phone and your iTunes; turning off 'Show all songs'; turning off iTunes Match; selecting your iTunes library in your music apps sharing options (obscure); turning on and off sync (the most common temporary cure); resetting your phone settings; restoring from backup or most destructively restoring from fresh, deleting all your data and settings. Yes, the equivalent of the good old nuke your PC and reinstall Windows option we've all derided for so long is now a common troubleshooting technique for your Apple device. Sheesh.

Have you tried all of the above already? Too scared to nuke your phone and start afresh? Grab a copy of iExplorer or PhoneView (the demo version will do) and follow these instructions:

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS BACKED UP TO BOTH YOUR LOCAL MACHINE AND ICLOUD.

Connect your iPhone to mac, open PhoneView, go to Settings>Show entire disk. Here I would recommend you back up all the contents of your phone. Or if using iExplore, open the media section.

    Deleted the following folders:
    Purchases
    Downloads
    iTunes Control>Sync>Media,
    iTunes Control>Music

Deleted the following files from iTunes Control>iTunes:
    MediaLibrary.sqlitedb
    MediaLibrary.sqlitedb-shm
    MediaLibrary.sqlitedb-wal

You may get away with only deleting purchases, but just to be safe nuke them all.

Restart your phone by holding home and start buttons for five seconds.

Resync with iTunes (make sure you reset all the options for only syncing what you want, deleting these files makes iTunes think you want to sync everything).

This should (most likely) cure your ghost song troubles once and for all.

Wow but if the songs are showing and playing in other apps on the ipad then the sync worked surely ??! It's only traktor DJ that has missing songs for me x x x

Hmmm. Haven't seen this issue myself. Do they show up if you force shut down the app and reopen it?

How to fix iOS 7 won't sync with iTunes? Here I have two ways to help you.
Method 1. Upgrade iTunes & Reset iOS Devices
1.Download the latest version of iTunes. Then re-install the program on your computer.
2.Change to another USB cable. After connecting the iOS device to a computer, touch the “Trust” button on iPhone/iPad.
3.To reset phone, run the Settings app. Then go to “General”, touch the “Reset” button and tap "Reset All Settings" button.
Method 2. Sync iPhone with TunesGo
If method 1 doesn’t work, you can try TunesGo. For it is a perfect bridge between iPhone/iPad/iPod and iTunes, besides, it can sync iOS data to iTunes. Set to copy data on your device when connect successfully. Then this software will start scan your device, then you can sync data as you like.
