I'm curious about this as well, and also have gigs this weekend, so I can't upgrade yet

I've been using my S2 mkII with Traktor DJ on iPad Air with the latest build of iOS 8 for a while now, and it's been pretty sweet, minus a few strange issues with the S2 acting weird when unplugged and plugged back into the iPad. There seems to be an order in which you have to close out Traktor, power on the S2, then plug it in to the iPad, -- vs already having Traktor DJ open when plugging it in, which has caused the issues, it seems. The issues I've noticed when not plugging the S2 in the correct order include the jog wheels not working, cue points not being 100% responsive, play/pause going haywire, etc.

Weirdly enough, metadata sync via Dropbox still works for me. I was able to upgrade to a newer iPad with bigger storage and retain all the metadata when restoring from the iCloud backup and re-adding my trax via iTunes.

(Sorry for going off topic )

okay, I'm jumping to the icy water and doing the update now. it sounds totally stupid I know, but I wanna see what happens. NI should be aware of any problems and if they haven't warned us in a civilized company/customer relationship means no problem. so I'm updating.

if there will be any issues (like last time with iOS8) it means NI shits in the face of it's customers, and in that case I'M done with Traktor DJ for ever.

    lets see what happens :)

    GUYS,
in general, if you have a working system its always risky to update, I seriously advice you to wait after your gigs, especially if your iPad is your only solution to perform.

I took the risk cos I wanted to see what happens, but in case of a failurelike the iOS8 was, I was ready to perform from my laptop like I did in the previous years and years. I play from TDJ cos I enjoy the freedom it gives me and the endless creativity on the fly. If you have a gig soon, do not update yet, only after the gig!

I reckon this is a pretty safe update. I just realised that I already did about four hours with the Z1 and my phone while I was on the 9 betas. But in general, if you have a working system, don't upgrade unless you have some time for testing before you go out and gig.

And I'm actually mad that things didn't break. At least then NI would be forced to update the app.

I wanted to give you my ipad for tomorrow, Simon, if things goes down, but I guess, I'm also jumping up to the upgrade train and see what happens with the S2. I have several problems already, so what else could come... :D

It seems to be working. I'm playing with my S2MK2 & iPad Air 2 for like 30 minutes now, and only those problems came to me that always (stucked bpm's, unreliable jog wheel behaviour, unreliable tempo fader behaviour, etc), but it seems "stable" like on ios8. "Working." Still a crap, but at least, the new ios didn't killed it. Now, let's hope for a quick (i mean, in the next 6 months...) upgrade from NI.

iPad 2, iOS 9.0, Traktor DJ (latest version) IS SLOW AND CRASHY. With or without my s2 mk2 hooked up.

I know I need a new iPad and the 2 is super old, but Traktor was responsive on it. Now it basically freezes and quits after 10-15 seconds at random spots, but almost always when loading another song while one is playing.

Hope it can be fixed soon!

Is the search function working properly? And has anyone done a long set - 4 hrs or more?

I'm in the same situation as Kokernutz. Same situation, Taktor is buggy and so much more prone to crashing. Not only does the search function crash it, but sometimes traktor doesn't load tracks immediately and stutters very regularly. Worryingly the app has crashed a few times, taking the sound with it. Luckily this has all been in a domestic environment but it's not looking good for my next outing, and this is my only set-up (with z1). Dark times.

Dark times indeed. I'm pretty sure it would be the same on my ipad air and my ipad air 2. The app in its upto date form is broken - no ios is going to fix it I think.

OK, so I did two sets of 2.5hr and 5hr. I have a feeling my database is overstuffed and needs a purge (says it needs to analyse 10K+ tracks when I only have 5188 on there), so keep that in mind. This is on an original iPad Air.

    1) It is impossible to play while also analysing now, I had issues with this before upgrading, but now it's stutter city straight away. You should always analyse your full library, kill all other apps and do a clean reset before a gig anyway, but this seems particularly urgent now
    2) At around 3-4 hours I had a noticeable slowdown which turned into glitches. This was sorted with a quick reset of the cable to the Z1 and didn't require an app reset (phew!), but still embarrassing (even if it sounded intentional at first).
    3) Occasionally, towards the end it would glitch out when using the filter knob quickly during transitions. Again, this sounded like an intentional effect, so no biggie
    4) Search function should certainly be used sparingly if at all, you risk slowdowns or even crashes (thankfully didn't have any this night)

Not sure how much of this is from an overloaded system with a huge library and possibly corrupt database (some of these were issues before upgrading), and how much is from iOS9. It certainly seems possible that more resources are being taken up by the base system than before.

I played a 5+ hours set last week, there was only one problem, the 'freeze during searching' bug. it only happened once, but it was the first time for me when I hadnthis bug so I really freaked out. fckng annoying, the app stops and quits while you search for the next tune. other tahn hat its okay, well, okay as it was.

iOS 9.0.1 (released) today appears to be helping. The UI still stutters and momentarily freezes, but no crashes yet.
