this whole iOS9 X TDJ issue is really interesting

    - TDJ never freezed on me before, since the iOS9 update I've played two sets and it freezed twice, both were the 'search bug' what I never had before
    - the load times of the tracks when I put them on any of the decks is really slow, almost a minute. I never seen this before also
    - I still don't understand why TDJ scans 3000 - 4000 tracks when I put only 300 on the device, and mine is a 16Gb iPad so 3000 tracks are way above the storage limit :)

so many questions, zero answers. shame on NI for letting this community down...

ipad mini 2 with ios9 on traktor s2

    analyzing needs more time.
    lags when scratching.
when moving jogwheel for beatmatching, tempo get stuck on higher bpm.

i went back to ios8, everything is fine again. but im still pissed...

First mix after the 9.0.2 upgrade yesterday. 2 hours continuous mix, and it 'only' crashed once, though it seems to have stopped trying to analyse the whole collection. FWIW, I did create a new shorter playlist in the hope of giving traktor less of a database to query, maybe that helped... Anyway, here's hoping at leat Apple's updates help resolve the current issues (until NI can spare some resources to get back on the case.

FWIW, it has been pretty stable for me since 9.0.2 (as long as everything is analysed before use of course)

I use the TDJ 1.5.1 (old version), I updated iOS now to 9.1 -> works well (until now), no crashes, FX all available, search works well
.. same as on my iOS 8.x before

Just to put it out there... i decided to try 1.6.1 again with ios 9 and it just crashes - even with a newly analysed library and cue points restored via drop box.

    Hi,

FYI - I did a 8hr gig last Saturday and the TDJ worked flawless! No crashes what so over. I have not re-analysed my library for a while now but added new songs from time to time.
My iPad is 1st gen Air with 128GB and I have just under 4000 songs on it (don`t play all of them but have them for testing of TDJ purpose only).
I have IOS 9.1 and TDJ 1.6.2 installed.
Please not that I use the iPad ONLY for TDJ, so I always have it on flight-mode and have turned off all the functions that are possible on the iPad. The iPad is used together with the S2 MKII.

    Regards,
    Harkaran

    Thanks!
I did some various searches on the net and also downloaded a systems monitor app for the iPad. I wonder ID this might be a memory (ram) isse, as I noticed that iOS is using a lot of memory even when it's idle. The 1st gen iPad Air only has 1gb of RAM while the latest version has 2gb. Anyone else that have a similar theory?

could be. i just checked on my iPad Air 2, if i close all apps, the free RAM 716 MB (of 2 GB), if i run TDJ in Background still 370MB RAM free. iOS 9.1 with TDJ 1.5.1, no Problems, never crashes

Interesting. I have just over 90MB free RAM when running TDJ and 300MB free RAM when closed on my iPad Air 1.
No surprise that you and I are not experiencing any problems since there is available RAM when TDJ is running.

    Hi everyone,
I'm on 9.2 with my iPad 4 and I just ordered a Traktor Audio 2 after communicating with NI a bit ((pre-sales?) support). The information was quite interesting and the support representative said I could share it. So this is what I'm doing now; after I had some experiences with it, I'll post that, too. (So far I didn't do any gigs digitally! ;-)
(This is a summary from the mails I received; ">>...<<" quotes)
    1) After pointing him to this thread:
    >>... people experiencing issues with TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 on legacy iPads are actually mostly experiencing issues with TRAKTOR DJ software and not necessarily with TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 hardware.<<
    >>Yes, [my iPad] is fully compatible - and using an iPad 4 or higher will result in a stable performance. The customers experiencing issues all seem to be on the iPad 2, a device with significantly less processing power. We´re aware of these issues ...<<
He also pointed me at that link in turn: https://browser.primatelabs.com/ios-benchmarks, which shows that benchmarks differ drastically between models.
    2) After asking why the usage of an USB hub is explicitely discouraged:
    >>TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 MK2 is an MFi ("Made For iPad, iPhone and iPod") device and MFi devices need to be connected to your iOS device directly. Using hubs is only a workaround for generic class compliant interfaces, e.g. KOMPLETE AUDIO 6. We received reports that using TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 with an iOS device using a hub can cause performance issues.<<
(I plan to test that of course, using their power supply and a KORG nanoKONTROL (I).)
    3) After asking why here (in Oz) the dealers want to sell me the version containing the old 30pin to Mini-USB cable:
    >>Older boxes of TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 MK2 still contain the 30pin cable for legacy iOS devices, but all current boxes include a lightning cable. If you happen to purchase such a slightly outdated product you may contact our Order Support and receive an e-voucher for a free lightning cable. The MK2 audio interface itself hasn´t changed, only difference is the provided cable.<<
I think this clarifies a lot - I'll see how I go in real life soon ;-)
    Regards

yeah that ties in with advice I've received from NI - it's the app, not the hardware. They referred me to their recommended specs for the app, which I swear weren't there when I bought them both. Just had a bit of a play with the app without the hardware plugged in & couldn't reproduce the error I mentioned above, so not entirely convinced by their explanation. Will have a bit more of a play though

anyway, I'm interested to know what other apps work, if any. I started the thread below to find out but not a single reply so far...

    Dammit 9.3.4 has broken it!

My audio 2 DJ isn't recognised at all.

Do not do the so called security updates... if you need to mix.

iPad Air 1 and latest Traktor DJ (don't know the version offhand).

Luckily for some unknown reason I tried the Audio2 without the power cable attached. It worked. I plugged power back in, it stopped working. I unplugged.. it worked, then plugged in and it still worked.

Hopefully this can help someone else.

Damn! I just got an iPhone 5 & had hoped that would fix the issue I mentioned above, but Traktor DJ for iPhone doesn't even see my Traktor Audio 2 mk 2. So this is an iOS issue? Maybe I'll try to roll back that last update. Incidentally it did see my soundcard *once*, but I it didn't show the audio settings so that I could choose External Mixer. A headphone icon just appeared for each track, but it disappeared quickly, which I thought was maybe because the cable was dodgy

Edit - rollback window for iOS 9.3.4 has closed. All up to NI now :( seriously this is easily the most problematic piece of kit I've ever purchased. I've only ever had it worked as described once, in early September 2014
