Which model would you say is best for Imaschine 2?

1.What are some of the pros and cons of using IMaschine with the IPad Mini 4 vs the IPad Air 2?

    2. Do you guys think the IMaschine 2 app is a good enough music making app to justify buying a IPad Mini 4 or a IPad Air 2?

I use it almost exclusively on my iPad mini 3 which I prefer to the phone layout very much. Unfortunately in it's current form mainly because of the lack of midi input I would not purchase an iPad JUST to use this app. Fortunately, there are dozens of really great apps that together make buying the iPad totally worth the cost. I sold some of my hardware to buy mine and haven't regretted it once.

    What he said.

Do not buy an iPad just for iMaschine. If anything, buy it for beatmaker 2 or sampletank or nanostudio or fl studio hd or.......

    You get the point.

Get the ipad air 2 or the best one you can afford. Imaschine 2 is really fun. Also, try out cubasis and Traktor DJ. Very fun apps. Yes imaschine is limited, but sometimes that is good.

I've used the mini a couple of years, great device!
then i realized the most applications are optimized for the iPad (the big one) and since I don't have creepy thin and small fingers, i decided to upgrade to an iPad Air 2.
Resumé: Get yourself an iPad Air 2

PS: iMaschine 2 is nice, but is still limited as heck, since NI won't let us use the Hardware (Maschine Controller) or plug in some Mididevices. Check Arturia iSpark and Korg Gadget.

I was set on buying the IPad Air 2 to use IMaschine 2 and BeatMaker 2 but then Apple comes out with the IPad Pro 9.7 inch.

So... now it's between the IPad Air 2 vs the Ipad Pro 9.7.

The Apple iPad Air 2 comes with the A8X chip and the M8 motion co-processor.

The iPad Pro 9.7-inch includes a faster and newer processor, in the A9X which is the same as in the larger iPad Pro. This means a nice improvement in performance for the smaller iPad Pro in comparison to the iPad Air 2.

    iPad Air 2 64GB - $450

    iPad Pro 9.7" 32GB - $579

Or... is the IPad Air 2 with 16GBs for $350 good enough?

it's disgusting that apple still makes and sells the 16GB model. It's 2016, and there is no way to explain this kind of illogical crap.

Do yourself a favor and grab that Pro model. It will be worth it.
32Gb sounds enough, if you can afford the next step, do it. There is nothing more annoying then "why didn't I have done this".

Sure, it is a lot of money, but those iPads got some really professional uses.

Funny, I came across this thread as I list some hardware on Craigslist to buy a Mini 2 myself. The 8 inch retina 32gb is $269 now.

...and now I have the Mini 2. Love it. Can still one hand the device. Stayed up way too late playing last night.

Update on the iPad Mini 2, if the price wasn't so low I'd be disappointed. There is a bit more input lag than with my iPhone 6s and also the screen is not as responsive probably because it's not zero gap laminated glass.

I'm still pretty happy but might exchange it for a newer model.

I think it is a must to think about many aspects such as compatibility, price, experience, etc. That would need you to take a look at the specifications of both iPad models. Personally speaking, I prefer iPad Air 2 mostly for the experience.

I just started a new shift at my job and realised I'll have a lot of time to make music. I dug out my old Ipad 2 and was so impressed with the way that IMaschine exported to Maschine2 that I just bought an Ipad Pro 12.9". I got Cubasis 2 on sale and since Cubase is my main DAW i'm looking forward to running these 2 . Ipad Pro 12.9 (2017) with 256gb new condition going for $699 on Ebay
