My TDJS 3 crashes when browsing the History playlists. I understand that the update fixes this problem.

I have seen somewhere that the update introduces other playlist-browsing style crashes.

I can live without the History playlists, but I'd like them to work. So before I update, is version 3.02 stable?

Well, "stable" is a pretty ambiguous term but I would tend to say that, by and large, it has been stable in my use. That is to say, that so far my experience goes, I haven't had a crash.

Are you useing 3.02 live every weekend. I spin 3 to 4 times a week now and havent updated from 2.6 because of the fear of the live perfromance issues. I do have 3.0 sitting in the box just that I have had every weekend booked so I didnt want to update untill i had a weekend off!

If you are gigging on a regular basis, I would say don't upgrade. I actually went back to 2.6 because 3.x had too many glitchy bs little problems...oh, and it crashes on me.
I need something that's dependable, 2.6 has only screwed up on me once and I've had it and used it every week since it was released.
I guess you gotta weigh the chance of 3.x crashing on you and killing your vibe -vs- do you need all the cool features it offers.

If you have another computer you can install T302 on so you can work with it while you gig with one you're more familiar with (that's also more stable), I'd definitely do that. Not a chance in hell I'd gig with T3 as it currently is. Those who are, are much braver than I am.

I am, in fact, using T3 live every weekend. Oddly enough, the reason I initially STARTED using T3 was because 2.6 kept crashing on me at a gig (it turned out to be a problem with using Core-Audio drivers vs. the Firewire Audiophile drivers) whereas T3 did not. Ever since that time, I've been battling it out with T3. It wasn't pretty for the first couple of gigs, but 3.0.2 seems to be measurably better than the previous T3 releases. I can say that I have yet to experience an out and out crash with T3 (at least in performance), so that's a good thing. Personally, I kind of want to get any bugs that I can ironed out before my really heavy wedding season hits, so that's also been a motivating factor...

Do I find 3.0.2 stable? Yes as do others, some also think Iraq is presently stable.

Do I think 3.0.2 is reliable? No.

I have found though the audio dropouts I see are itunes 6.x related when running Itunes 5 or no iTunes at all the system is very very much more reliable. More later.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm using the first release of Traktor 3 and I agree, it aint the most reliable piece of software I've used. I use it at least three times a week.

Mine does crash, but only if I browse the History playlists. I can stop it from crashing if I don't browse the History when playing live. I can live with that although it isn't ideal.

I think I'll stick with the version I have. I just don't want to risk it.

I think you're making a big mistake there. I don't know that I've heard anyone report that 3.0.2 (or 3.0.1 for that matter) is LESS stable than 3.0.0. Conversely, I know a lot of people have experienced significant improvements with the updates (including myself).

I have been using 3.02 since it came out and I am regaining trust in using it. I have not had it crash as of this date and as I am on a laptop I do not push it trying to use all 4 decks all night. The sound and effects are too sweet to not be used. Ver 2.6 has a brash sound when compared to the sweet Allen Heath modeled sound of 3.02. I use a G4 laptop and M-Audio 410....No problems mein!

i just installed 3.02, will try it live on the weekend. i just finished playing in -20 celcius for 2 days last weekend. traktor didn't even hiccup running 10 hours in freezing temps. i however got frostbite on 2 fingers and am still stiff from being frozen 4 days later! in between those 2 shows i also played indoors for 4 hours without inccident. its pretty crazy cause i have used fs2 on +30 celcius beaches with tdjs 2.6 last summer and now with tdjs 3 this winter. somethings working right.

For me zero crashes in 2 months.
The software have any bugs and need much ram to use correctly master tempo and effects, but I think is reliable and stable enough.
    See ya.

Wimps the lot of ya! :)

Never played with any previous versions, but, I make a living every weekend with the latest version of TDJS 3.

I even installed it 3 hours before my nightclub gig! Never had a crash, never had a skip, stutter or dropout, works brilliantly! Don't use iTunes, don't use Beatport.

    Re: Is 3.11 STABLE?

Well, we should really be talking about version 3.11 now that the update is out.

I wouldn't touch 3.11 with a ten foot pole yet. I played a gig a few weekends ago with it and the program completely killed the audio engine and crashed when I attempted to open an Apple Lossless file. I get about 5 hiccups an hour on 3.11 compared with about 1 per hour with 2.6 playing WAV files.

    Here is my setup:

    1.5 GHz PowerBook G4
    1.5 GB RAM
    Edirol FA-101 Firewire Audio Interface
    Evolution X-Session

I am really frustrated with Native Instruments at this point. I have tried everything I can find in these forums, including adjusting latency, turning off bluetooth and airport, changing power management preferences, defragmenting my hard disk, using a different audio card. Nothing works. I am stuck with 2.6 until I either upgrade machines or learn of something that works? It seems like most PowerBook owners are having similar experiences.

ok guys, this is somewhat mistakable in the mix of versions here...

post your problems with 3.1.1 in a separate thread (most likely in the T3 board) - since 3.0.2 is history i will close this one... aight
