I want to know this as well. I have Maschine but I’m finding it too convoluted to use with Studio One as opposed to Battery.

I wonder about this as well. Being out of patience with the quirky DAW integration of MASCHINE, I find myself leaning towards Battery more and more. I dig the MASCHINE internal effects and drum oscillators though… it would be great if these were available through Battery.

I've been wondering too. Hopefully, it hasn't been abandoned.

Battery 5 would be interesting as hell, given the change in landscape since 2011.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but Impact XT still looks more limited than Battery. Certainly doesn't make it obsolete. :p

depends on what you want to do, In studio one you can just drag and drop audio from teh arrangement to a Impakt cell , try that with battery. On the other hand battery has some build in goodies , as I said it depends on what you need.

Exactly like that. I use Live, but I'd imagine it'd work in S1 aswell.

Battery 3 with a resizable GUI would be better than Battery 4:

Okay, think that if you want, but it's not exactly realistic.

They stopped developing plugins since years like they did in the past...
As example Kontakt 6: Look at the features which were added... The highlight was a new sample engine.
Battery 4 was nothing more than a visual update, I cannot see any nice new features...

Well, like the video shows, it was a GUI upgrade and a feature downgrade. They also threw in a bunch of new nice kits, but still...

I could have bought Komplete 12 on the Thanksgiving sale a few days ago for $99 (existing Komplete 5 owner price) which is a very low compared to the regular price, but I ended up skipping it. Lack of updates for older products was among my reasons. The only plugin I was only interested in was Massive X and I wasn't even sure I wanted it. If and when they start showing some commitment to supporting their older plugins, I will buy it—right now I'm just not feeling it.

Having said that, I have faith that NI will course-correct in 2020.

It got sidechaining, which B3 didn't have. Quite useful, in fact. Also a new compressor type, better timestretching, 4 busses for additional routing. So yeah...

Those are all good features but the workflow undeniably took a step back in several areas. It's fair of users to complain when a paid upgrade sacrifices useful functionality. They even went as far as to release a B3->B4 conversion utility which sort of implies that B4 was a direct replacement for B3 (though it's not). ED, it sounds like you are familiar with the plugin, so I'm surprised your reaction to valid criticism is always to defend NI like their farts don't smell. A shiny new feature does not compensate for the lack of another totally unrelated feature. So B4 might as well have 100 busses, 500 compressors and mindlessly crazy routing, yet that doesn't make up for the fact that in Battery 4 empty pads don't light up when keys are pressed in the MIDI controller and in Battery 3 they did.

I am responding to the part I quoted, not to the valid differences that do exist between B3 and B4. I thought that was fairly obvious.

This is pretty normal when a company grows from a few people to dozens/hundreds of people, and NI is not the only example of that (before anybody says this is apologetic - it's not, it's a fact)...

I don't know about the number of plugins, but regarding the improvements I think disappointment is a fair reaction to the state of several NI products. The lack of high definition graphics in the whole product line (with a few exceptions) is a case in point. As is the neglect of what was and could still have been a great product: Battery.

For sure, I also wish all NI plugin UIs were scalable, for the benefit of the whole userbase more than my own (since I'm not using HiDPI monitors just yet and everything looks fine over here, more or less - I will move to HiDPI when the time is right, that is when my staple plugins are all scalable, not gonna force it before that).
