Is it possible to save as a KK preset a Kontakt multi?

I noticed that the Save option is grayed out when I try to save a custom KK preset of a multi I made of a Kontakt library. However, if I just load one patch in the Kontakt instrument, KK allows me to save that as a preset.

Is this normal? Is there no way to save as a KK preset a custom multi we make in a Kontakt library?

You need to save multi's in Kontakt as you normally would. KK can't do this. I assume you know how to save in Kontakt but speak out if you need a hand with it. Cheers.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I saved it as a multi in Kontakt... but since I use Komplete Kontrol all the time, I was hoping to be able to add the preset to my user/custom ones. I'm of course able to open it in KK by using the browser view of Kontakt but I was hoping I'd be able to add it as a custom NKS preset for the KK browser tab. Sucks that it can't be done...I wonder why it can be done for single instrument patches but not multi ones.

Aren't we able to load factory made NKS presets that load multis for certain libraries? Or no?

There are others in this forum with far more expertise on code limitations who might chime in but I would also point out that light guide does not work automatically with multi's either (you have to manually do it with your mouse). So the divergence in the way the 2 software's work is pretty major. And given that N.I. facilitated the use of Kontakt within KK I imagine they had no inclination to Make KK do the things Kontakt does and vise versa. They each have their strengths and weaknesses and the KK limitation you refer to is a good example. Alas, there is nothing perfect I suppose.

But you can save such presets pretty easily in your daw so they can be used in future projects. At least that is the case in Studio One.

Sadly we have never been able to load Kontakt multi's files directly into Komplete Kontrol, it's unfortunate as there are some fantastic presets out there from the likes of Project Sam etc which would be convenient to use within the KK environment.

I suspect there might be a technical reason behind it, for example if you pressed the plugin button, which set of parameters within the multi would KK know to edit etc, but even just loading the patch without the usual tweaking possibilities would suffice for me personally, as I would just want the ease of using them within KK without the need to load an instance of Kontakt separately.

Thanks for clarifying - what exactly would I be saving in Cubase as per your suggestion? A track preset where the multi is simply loaded on the track already? (If so, then I guess I have 2 options... either as an instance of Kontakt on its own, or, inside KK through a Kontakt instance being loaded manually...)

    Oh wow, good to know!

Same here! Wishlist item... right up there with resizable and 4K supported GUI.

No this is still not possible, NI still hasn't even added multi-timbral support in Komplete Kontrol, you can't even layer two sounds together in Komplete Kontrol..Pretty sad, when hardware keyboards with much less power have been able to do this since the 1980s.. The idea that NI can't offer support for even their own content to be layered and saved as a Multi in Komplete Kontrol, speaks volumes of what their intentions are for this software, which is bascially a simple one sound at a time approach, hence why it's not as popular as it could be with professionals who gig for example.
