    Hi,

I really like Battery but there's not a lot of choice compared to Maschine. I'd like to be able to purchase Maschine expansions but I don't want to use Maschine, I prefer to work directly in my DAW and stay as lightweight as possible. What are the solutions to expand Battery possibilities?

Definitely possible. You just create your own kits in Battery using the Maschine Expansion samples. The only thing you can't use in Battery are the Massive or Monark presets that come with the expansions, unless you sample them (which would be an extra step). I've created several Battery kits from the maschine expansions. I start with a 4x12 empty Battery kit, navigate from Battery to the various Maschine expansion folders , drop in the sounds, and save kit. Simple as that. Takes the most time to select the samples and build out a kit, but well worth it to have in Battery format.

thanks D-J-K, it seems quite easy! NI should mention it as it's not obvious, I thought expansions were protected to work only for Maschine owners

can you install expansions with out having Maschine first? I thought they required maschine to be installed which wasserstoff is implying he doesnt

Yes, Maschine is indeed required to purchase and install the expansions. Sorry I forgot that key piece of information. However, what I was getting at is that you can use the samples for whatever you want (i.e. Battery).

    Hello to all,
Are you guys sure about needing to own Maschine to use the expansions? Each expansion comes with it's own serial # & can be installed or accessed w/out the serial #...Once you enter the serial # I would think you'd have access to the installation (files).

I would recommend the OP verify with NI directly. The system requirements on the expansions product pages indicate Maschine is required. For the monark and massive presets, yes, but the samples are just samples so I don't see why they cannot be purchased without maschine.

    Hello,
So I just ran a little test...First off I do own Maschine Mikro, but I do not have it installed on my Surface Pro 3. The only NI products I have installed on the Surface is Reaktor & Battery 4. I recently purchased a new Maschine expansion called Lilac Glare. I downloaded & installed onto the Surface & opened up Battery 4. I was able to use the samples from the Maschine expansion in Battery 4 w/out any issues. Disclaimer, I do not know if this is because the NI Service Center recognizes that I own Maschine, but don't have it installed on the Surface. D-J-K does make a good point about not having access to the Monark/Massive presets. Depending on which expansion you purchased you may be missing out on some major portions of the material in the expansion. At $50.00 U.S. that's quite a pop for some wav samples.

    Have a good one,
