I've asked this before and it didn't get a great response. Proprietary connections were flagged as an issue, but tbh I doubt that's an insurmountable issue (camera connection kit?).

Personally I'd love to be able to plug in my iPhone and have a really neat portable setup, even if it meant a rather stripped down version.

+1 on that. They would have to make a full version of machine tho cause iMaschine sucks. Would be nice with the studio.

They could probably make the basefunctions available, but you'd be limited to sampler and no fx . . OR low quality effects, like on the beatmaker. It's the lack of horsepower to do anything "real" except to play samples, really. That and the battery would be drained empty in matter of hours (if even that). More trouble than it's worth, really. If you want good enough ipad app for composing, go with beatmaker or nanostudio. Beatmaker has better support as the maker of the nanostudio is more interested in making a new app instead and just bug fixing stuff. I've had and used both, they're fun and nanostudio was the reason I bought ipad before maschine. Bad choice now that I look back but hey, I've done so many one more doesn't even really count :)

I also had them both. I liked them a lot but for some reason I ended up not using them after a while. It was fun while it lasted tho. They are still on my phone but I can't remember the last time I used them but both are much better then iMaschine which is also still on my phone.

But isn't Traktor for iPad fully functional?

To me it was the beatmaker constantly crashing and nanostudios synth sounding thin. The effect quality really is poor on those devices to spare all the cycles you can to run the software properly. You could virtual-midi sunrizer&moog&whatnot in, but then you were really straining the devices cpu. The tech just wasn't there yet when I had the opportunity to play with it.

No idea, I stopped playing records for living 13 years ago.

I was thinking the other day that one possible reason why it's been over 18 months since the last iMaschine update (which was just a bug fix) was that they were working on something that might be a more professional version of the software, similar to Traktor. (If you want to call Traktor DJ professional.)

However, that said, the storage limitations of iOS devices could be problematic. Also, I guess it's possible that NI built in a USB plug that's compatible with iOS and didn't tell anyone, but that would show an unprecedented level of foresight. (Unless they pull the old, hey look, it's the Maschine Studio MKII six months from now, in which case - Ha.)

"But isn't Traktor for iPad fully functional?"

Traktor is absolutely not fully iPad functional. There's a sort of lite version of the software, Traktor DJ, which is fun in it's own right, but definitely not something I'd use in a venue larger than a house party. (Seriously, the effects are all ****. Please tell me who listened to that delay and green-lighted it.)

Anyway, I'm sure that NI are well aware that a new version of iMaschine would sell pretty widely.
