    Not only for Reaktor...
I know it's the opposite of what many people ask, but I've got used to the easy searching and availability of electronic documentation.

no it isnt, but i share your opinion that electronic documentation is is much more comfortable.
is this another **** point of stupid (and by the way usesless) copy protection?

Ditto. It's very enjoyable! That red LED is fun!

Oh yeah, I buy software. :)

Anyone know where I could get a pdf for R4? I don't think that would be illegal for me to get the pdf.. if it is.. well.. don't tell me.

I've never actually seen a Reaktor manual. :-\ I hear they smell funny anyway.

There's no electronic manual available because NI want people who chose to upgrade for free via the web to purchase the R4 Library (and thus receive the manual as well). At least that's what Jake told me in this thread:

    http://www.nativeinstruments.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4345

We've been through this before I know, but I still think it's lame that we've accquired the software legitimately but still have to pay for the manual. At least the propellerheads gave me a new manual for Reason 2.5 (for free).

    eh,eh,
maybe "free" doesn't mean the same thing depending the place you are on the planet?....

    of course it's a ploy

I'm very dissapointed that NI chose to exclude the pdf manual - I've complained about this before though. NI clearly did this to compel R4 users to pay for this "free" upgrade. I think this is probably what sakabeat is referring to. It does beg the question, "what part of the word 'free' don't you understand - you silly R4 sucker?"

I could see the application and the pdf being a free download and having to buy the user library, but NI is more interested in marketing ploys than customer loyalty.

But really, what good would a pdf manual do, considering R4 is still a pretty bugged out, crash prone disaster of an update anyway?

Don't get me wrong - I desperatly want to be able to say R4 kicks ass - but right now it is not 100% reliable for pro recording IMHO.

    just my opinion folks,

Ahh.. yes, that makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Knight. I too feel that Reaktor could be a much stronger product. Sure, it sounds better than most hardware, but it's less reliable than most software.

But I'm not here to complain. Not anymore anyways. :)

I think NI should put all their work on 5.0 into three areas:

    1. Stability
    2. Making a less cryptic user interface ... text not icons please!
    3. Adding support for module plugins.

These three things would make Reaktor a ridiculous killer system. If I could code a module in C in toss it in Reaktor, that would be amazing. Hell, if it works for Max...

Hell, NI could even come out with their own module sets and charge for them.

Would make the user-lib a lot less useful - you need plugin packs x y and z to use this, and remember that packs x and z require pack q; sadly packs y and q does not work with your OS. Grayt, innit?

You're right - I don't think complaining here does a bit of good - but thanks for listening/reading anyway. I'm just having a pretty frustrating R4 experience so far (fairly obvious - if you've read any of my posts in the past few weeks) and I refuse to pay for the R4 library and manual until I finally see a patch/update that does everything that R3 was supposed to do - let alone R4!!!

    oops - I'm complaining again . . . I have no self control dude - sorry

Also, Mr Nowak - those are some pretty cool suggestions. Are you a beta tester? Just curious.

OK, this thread's been hijacked :), but while we're here I'd say stability is something for v4.0.3 not v5...

Talking of manuals again, it's a shame their spines are all over the place. Some read from the left, some read from the right, some have the NI logo horizontal, some have the logo vertical, some have no logo at all...

They could have looked so cool on the shelf. :(
Electronic documentation doesn't have this problem. :)

Hmm. I seem to have too much time on my hands...
