I'm really thinking about getting this mixer, but I need to know if its buttons and knobs are midi mappable to other programs such as Ableton or even Scratch Live. I run both Traktor and SSL in the my studio and it'd be great if this thing could be mapped to work with SSL to.

Or does this thing just run in HID mode only in Traktor?

So the browse encoder and the loop encoders you have mapped? can you elaborate a bit.

Here's what I'd like ideally in my studio.. Computer 1 running TSP plugged into the mixer. My X1 plugged into the Mixers USB Hub. Then Computer 2 Plugged into the SSL Box which is chained to the Z2s Phono Inputs, and then also a USB cord from Computer 2 into the Z2s USB hub.

I run the SSL Box in thru mode so I can play Traktor and use timecode, but when my friends come over to play they can Plug into the SSL box and use Serato with Timecode but also use the Z2 used as a controller mapped in Serato to control functions in Serato such as Browse, hot cues, and loop rolls.

If I can do this, then its off to the store i go....

That's not gonna work simultaneously, you can only hook up one pc to the Z2.
The usb-hub is for additional controllers, not for multiple PCs.

Hmm.. so the z2 cant be mapped to control functions in Serato at all? So i'd be stuck using Comp 1 with the Z2 and then Comp 2 would have to use the X1 plugged into it to control functions in Serato like I already have? booo... It looks like i'll be getting the DDJ SX which can be midi mapped to Traktor then , unless someone can clear this up for me.

No didn´t read right, the Z2 can control Mixvibes, Serato, Ableton, anything.

But you cannot have it control Traktor and something else at the same time.
Also you cannot hook up 2 computers to it.

You either have to switch the usb-cable between computers or you have both applications on one pc.

example: running Traktor and Mixvibes/Serato etc simultaneously on the same machine you can switch one deck from traktor-mode to thru-mode, bring in the new Track via Mixvibes/ Serato and then switch the second deck to thru mode and finally turn on midi-mode.

Oh also maybe I wasnt clear with my scenario, thats my IDEAL scenario having everything running simultaneously, but from what you said its a no go..

So on the BASIC scenario I just want to have Serato hooked up already when my friends come over since thats what they primarily use.., So it'd be nice if the Z2 could be mapped in Serato to control the basic functions in Serato like browse, hot cues, effects and loop rolls which my X1 already does in Serato.. then they come over and its plug in their USB stick in my comp and play.

I know I can set it all up the way I want it as described a couple a posts above, for simultaneous DJ Battles between Serato and Traktor but the only thing is that I'd use my X1 plugged into the computer running Serato to control it I guess.

But again.. i'd just like to be able to use the Z2 to control Serato like I already use my X1.

Did you ever figure out if this was mappable to SSL?

Regarding to a similar issue, do you know if it's possible to use Z2 with Traktor without any fancy integration (ie. just using plain ol MIDI)? I have some crazy ideas that could be realized if Traktor didn't force integration :)

As far as I know, there are some controls that are not midi mappable and can only be used through NI protocol, so some mixer functions are only available with NI software, and that's a pity.

If you want a fully midi mixer look for the Pioneer TTM-1 mixer.

Check this mixvibes' forum thread for more info

Yes you can map all the buttons on the Z2 to Serato. Some if they won't map you jest change in the Control Editor to Note.
I run my SL3 USB into the Z2 thought the USB hub and conect it with the Traktor molticore cables. To map Serato watch some midi mapping videos on YouTube

Im new to Traktor/Z2 after 9 years on Scratch Live - I know that the Z2 can control Serato but do you still need to connect the Serato box or can the Z2 directly be mapped to control Serato?

The Z2 can not directly control Serato although I wish it could. You still need your SL box in the equation to use SL/SDJ. I have been able to quickly map some of the features of SDJ to the Z2 but, there's somethings I still can't figure out like pressing down on the loop scroll button to activate/deactivate loops.

Here's my incomplete mapping for SDJ 1.7

You will probably find that it's still better to use the Z2 with Traktor but it still makes using SDJ much better.

Oh ok I thought so - i think Traktor software is as good (if not better) than Scratch Live anyway so why someone would insist on the hassle of connecting the box I don't know (maybe to play all those Serato Whitelabel joints at high quality?)

Those pesky whitelabel joints. I thought WhiteLabel was great but, now looking back it, it sucks. I have to go back and purchase the WhiteLabel stuff I downloaded. I joined DJCity it's a better way to go. There is nothing to stop you from re-recording your WL tracks by running them through your SL box and recording them.

NYC is pretty much Serato only. I make people who spin with me bring an SL box or I bring my SL4.

I'm having some trouble mapping my Z2 for both serato Dj and Serato Scratch Live and I've been real to eager to use it. I'm having trouble with the xml file loading into serato dj. I follow the steps and when I open serato dj it doesn't show any midi preferences?? If anybody would be able to help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!?
