Is this possible? Midi mapping question

I did some searching around the forums and couldn't really find anything specific to my question so I'm asking it here. This could really be extrapolated to any midi controller but I'm specifically using a Xone:2d.

I have one rotary knob at the top that when pushed activates a loop for the currently selected deck, and the knob when moved left/right obviously controls the loop size.

Easy, seems simple enough, know this is where I want it to get more complicated.

On the same rotary, with a shift modifier, have it set up that when I push the button part of the rotary knob it activates a loop for ALL decks and twisting the knob left/right changes the size of the loops on all decks.

What I want to do (on the same rotary) is with a different shift modifier, is somehow macro the following command to one button.

Can I, with the push of one button, tell TSPro to unload tracks from all unfocused decks (or stop all unfocused decks) and disengage the loop from the currently selected deck?

Scenario: I have 4 loops going, start building up with effects/eq, as the whole thing comes to a peak I hit the button and boom, one track is left playing, unlooped, ready for me to set this up again with 4 different loops.

Is something like this possible? Or could someone recommend a workable way to set this up on a controller? I've been messing with controller mapping for a while trying to get something like this working but I'm not having much luck.

I think this is possible as it sounds very similar to what Ritchie Hawtin was demonstrating on one of his TSP videos demos (you should check them out). As for how to do it? haha I have no idea :D

I have watched the videos, which is where I got the idea to assign a shift modifier to activate loops for all decks and let me control the size of loops for all decks simultaneously.

Ideally I would like to be able to make it so that when I hit one button (well, two actually, I'd always set this button on a shift modifier, panic or reset knobs are dangerous :p ) Traktor stops playing all unfocused decks, disengages any active loops on all decks, and turns off all effects units.

Effectively, a kind of baseline reset that then lets me start building with more loops.

The best I've managed so far is to create a reset that stops decks B, C, D and disengages loops for A, B, C, D and turns off effect units 1 and 2 for decks A, B, C, D.

My only gripe is that this requires me to effectively make sure that deck A is always the 'next track' or 'next base loop to begin process anew' deck. I just wish there was some way I could make the process a bit more fluid and and have the reset affect everything but then leave the currently selected deck playing.

I hear what you're saying and this sounds like something I'd be interested in doing too so I'll be watching this thread with interest ;)

I love this forum. I learn so much and get so many ideas. By asking this question you could solve a controler dilema for me.

My thinking is that you can't do this. But, creation of this feature would open up a massive selection of new midi controls. To do this you need Native Instruments to create another selection in the controller section called unfocused deck or decks.

Put this in as a new feature request in the respective topic.

Of course it's possible. It's one the easiest things to map. U just have to duplicate functions with the same button and assign to every deck

Oddly enough as I was working at this this weekend I arrived at a solution that I think is much better for my work flow.

Instead of only having one panic button I now have 5.

One button kills all loops, turns off (and resets) all effects, syncs all decks, stops decks C&D and leaves decks A&B playing.

Then I have 4 (the four lit up ones across the bottom of a 1d/2d) buttons that do the same as my panic button, except they stop all decks except for one. So the first button resets everything, stops all decks and leaves deck A playing. Button two does the same but leaves deck B playing, button 3 deck C and so forth.

How do I assign a command to all decks, but not the focus deck? For example how do loop all unfocussed decks?

try to think in the opposite way:
what is the opposite of loop All Unfocused decks ?
    It's "unloop the focused decks"
Add these concepts and maybe it can work.
    Try to assign
button Q (example) to Loop deck A
button Q (example) to Loop deck B
button Q (example) to Loop deck C
button Q (example) to Loop deck D
    then
button Q (example) loop out deck FOCUS

i haven't tried but i think it can works. let me know

Hmm that might actually work. Blast being at work behind my desk and not being able to test this right now.

I will let you know if it works or not, and DjKad, your idea of approaching the problem from the reverse is brilliant. A lightbulb just went off in my head and I have a whole slew of new ideas I want to try and implement.

The more I keep playing with the midi mapping for TSPro the more I realize that it is VERY deep. The initial simplicity of it is very misleading.

No because I want the focussed deck to stay looping and I want all the other decks to stop looping.
