    Hi all, my first post...

I use an imac intel with RK2.
When i use the integrated isight (webcam) with RK2 i have continuous clicks...(f.e. in imovie or pure data). It doesn't happen with other audio devices (maudio FW 4-10 and built'in output). Is this an usb bug or can i solve with configuration?

    Thank you very much.

Are you on the latest RK driver from the service center? That's an odd bug, I've been using RK with iSight for as long as I've had my macbookpro. Really odd..

    I'll ask.

OK. Let's try tech support first -- maybe it's a bad RK, maybe a bad cable?

Both the RK and iSight are on a USB bus.

See if support can give you any answers.

Same problem here. At first I thought it was the known OS X 10.4.9 bug, but I still have that problem all the time I use Rig Kontrol as my audio output and then start the iSight whether it is with Photobooth or iMovie or Skype.

I run the latest OS X version 10.4.10 and of course the latest Rig kontrol driver. Any news on this?

I have not heard anything about this, either as a known issue.
It's odd as one is Firewire and one is USB.

I'll check out the Apple discussions and see what they have to say.

The first answer from support was that this can happen when a new hardware initialises itself (like iSight), but the crackles should just apear once. And I should update to the most up2date driver, which of course I already did.

I told them that these crackles stay there and I am now waiting for an answer...

You may also want to call Apple. I have heard on other forums that the iSight driver can interfere with other CoreAudio applications.

    Hi all,

I have written a report and informed the driver development about this. So far this issue was not known. Please check out the following:

    - change USB cable
    - use the second USB II port on the left-hand side of your MacBook/MacBook Pro (not the one which is next to Power supply socket)
    - disable Airport and Apple Talk in OS X System Preferences and make sure no other USB audio devices are connected at the same time while testing
    - restart Mac in Safe Boot Mode (-> click restart and hold down "Shift" key right after you hear the Mac startup sound, restart the machine afterwards normally).

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you run into any further hassle.

    Best regards,

    Philipp

    hi,

    - change USB cable

    clicks (3 cables)

    - use the second USB II port on the left-hand side of your MacBook/MacBook Pro (not the one which is next to Power supply socket)

with one of the imac's 3 ports (the last on the left) i have a click every 10-15 seconds (if no other devices are connected)... at first i was optimist... :(

    - disable Airport and Apple Talk in OS X System Preferences and make sure no other USB audio devices are connected at the same time while testing

    clicks

    - restart Mac in Safe Boot Mode (-> click restart and hold down "Shift" key right after you hear the Mac startup sound, restart the machine afterwards normally).

    clicks

    Thanks for support, anyway.

    best regards

    jk

    Hi jk,

do you may have some kind of system hacks running e.g. Application Enhancer etc.?

    Do you get CPI Spikes?

You could either check this in OS X Activity Monitor (MacHD/Applications/Utilities) or within Terminal (which you also find in Utilities): type in "top" command and hit enter.

    best,

    Philipp

Hi Philipp and thanks for support!

I've attached my top list, but i don't think i have that kind of application...

I hear spikes only with isight running and Rigkontrol2 as audio out... (what do you mean with CPI Spikes? sorry for ignorance :S )

    regards

    jk

    HI JK,

that was a little mistake: I wanted to write "CPU" instead of "CPI"...;-)

With CPU Spikes I mean short impulses which raise CPU to the top of 100% usage.

I have informed the driver development about this issue. Please disable iSight while using Rig Kontrol 2 as audio device for Guitar Rig 2.

If you just want to play back track from iTunes or any other audio application and you would like to use iSight at the same time, I recommend to either use the Mac internal built-in soundcard or to use an aggregate device:

An aggregated device is an audio interface that virtually exists in your computer. It uses audio inputs and ouputs of one or more real audio interfaces which are connected to your computer.

How to setup a generated device:
Open the OS X "Audio and MIDI setup" (MacHD/Applications/Utlities) and click on Audio>Open aggregate device editor.

By clicking on the "+" button you can add a new device. Below you should see a list of real audio interfaces currently connected to your computer. Click on the check box to enable interfaces as needed for this aggregate device. Close the editor when done.

In the Audio settings window of the audio application you can now choose this "aggregate device" as your output device.

For Native Instruments standalone applications also setup the inputs and outputs as necessary under the Audio settings window/tab Routing.

    I hope this helps.

We ask for your understanding and patience.

    Best regards,

    Philipp
