I am very new to both applications just to let you know. I followed instructions in other threads but I cannot get logic to record the MIDI data from the maschine and also cannot break down into individual tracks

Please tell me what to do because this isn't covered in the manuel from what i can see. Basically I..

Open a software instrument in logic

choose maschine mono 16, stereo 8, stereo etc

    get no recorded midi data

crete aux tracks in logic but am given no routing options to maschine only busses and whatnot inside logic

in the instrument track i can see the led when i trigger the pads and hear sound but when i record i get nothing. I did get playback from a pre loaded pattern in one of the kits but thats about it.

I watched the maschine #18 video a bunch of times that makes it look very easy but it doesn't explain the set up at all. I believe i have the latest version uploaded 1.0.3.002. I feel like i'm missing a step somewhere, I hunted around hoping from a you tube video no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank in advance

still lost, was hoping for a step by step guide to get up and running. So do i have to just work in the maschine it self and route it into logic later? How do i do that if thats the case? Again none of this stuff is in the manuel at all. I was hoping maschine would work like a rewire app but its not like that i guess

Maschine allows you to route 8 channels separately, plus the master outs. You can record Maschine's beats in the plugin software itself, then record the final sound to an audio track in your DAW.

make sure you are using the current update, version 1.0.3

    then try here:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85341&highlight=Logic

btw, you have to use the 8 x Stereo version of Maschine the other ones do not work at the moment.

you then need to assign Groups and/or Sounds to separate outputs in Maschine and after you have done that, you will see them in the AUX Channels in Logic under Instr in the dropdown.

hopefully my pics in the above linked thread will help you?

and as ew's linked threads say, at the moment you have to record your patterns inside Maschine not as MIDI in your DAW. the future 1.1 update will help with this feature.

let me know if this helps.

I'm starting to get it, its just taking me awhile because of the little time i have to use the stuff Before getting the maschine and logic i was a very long time user of reason so I'm trying to figure how a bunch of new ways of doing everything.

will that template download allow me to use the maschine as a controller in logic? I use it in midi mode to control drums and loops within logic but can't seem to get a hui emulation like how i saw in some youtube vids with people using protools.

I need to give myself a weekend to really dig into all of this stuff, the workflow ofn the maschine is like nothing else i've ever used. Its really cool though, i'm glad i swapped the MPD 32 and dropped more coin to get it ;)

sorry which Template Download are you talking about

btw, the Mackie Control Template does work with Logic. there is a quite good tutorial in Knowledge Base about setting it up.

anyway, best to do all this slowly but surely... if i was you i would make sure you can set up AUX Channels with the 8 x stereo version of Maschine in Logic before trying other stuff.

I made a little 8 bar beat in logic using the maschine for my drums, still having issues breaking the tracks down separately. I assigned the tracks in the kit i used in the drum pattern to individual outs in maschine then created aux tracks in logic but all it seemed to do is kill the audio coming to logic track by track after i toght i was assigning the ins of the aux to the outputs of the indv tracks in the maschine. I'm still working on it, i know i'm missing some minute detail thats messing things up. One step closer though.

Taking another crack at it and when i assign the outs in machine it locks the out that i pick to all the tracks in the group, whats going on there?

Well I somehow got it working, not 100% sure how but i did lol. The outs were assigned all messed up but i deleted all the auxes in logic and remade them and all of a sudden it was working lol. Thanks for all the help I still have some ways to go though but definatly on my way. Thanks

glad you got it working :) best thing to do is maybe start from scratch again and repeat your process, so it becomes second nature. from my point of view the first couple of times were a bit head scratching but now i am really used to it.

are you guys getting latency with the pads in logic? i am right now ... haven't figured out why just yet. ( it's not terrible but just enough to not feel instant like it does in stand alone mode btw using a macbook pro 2.4ghz with 4 gb ram)

    this is a bug.

put the Maschine Controller into MIDI Mode, play a few notes and then put it back
    to Maschine Mode.

What would i have to do to use the transport controls of the maschine to work in logic or reason? For me midi mode only seems to let me use the pads and some of the knobs have a function. It would be nice to be able to assign the knobs and buttons to give me more functionality in some of my other software, especilly logic. using a mouse is lame

one problem I'm seeing is that when i send seperate sounds to say ext out 2 (as 1 is same as master right?) i cant mix the aux tracks seperate from the master? like the faders are joined to each other? am i missing something...

I figured it out (not sure why) but i have to have all the aux outs in logic shown not just an extra 2...

you mean run side chain or just send an aux track?
to send to an aux track you just click on send and select bus 1,2,3, etc....
