    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anybody using a 1st generation Traktor S4 (2.70) with the latest OSX 10.10.2 software is having any issues?
I am currently on OSX 10.9.5 and have been experiencing problems with my S4 since I bought this macbook 15" retina (late 2013) and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to upgrade my software to the latest version (although apple keeps prompting me to do so). The problems is mainly freezing while the software is playing and I would need to restart my computer and S4 to get it going again - only to have it freeze on me again! I had no such problems with the traktor software on my older macbook 13".

Also, the updated hardware drivers I see posted above by NI support only addresses S4 MK1 - I'm assuming this does not include any hardware drivers for the 1st generation S4. Are they no longer bothering with the older S4's? Do I really need to get the recent S4 MK1 to get the latest hardware/software updates? I do like my 1st S4 as it is...

And lastly, if anyone knows how to set up the hardware and software (1st gen S4) to use an iphone as a backup during a gig should the whole system freeze on me again - I would greatly appreciate any input.

The apple support community should have a "how to" for reverting back to a previos OS X.

Quick search pulled these up...you can choose not to update your OS X, it may still prompt you but just close out the applications window. I still have not updated to 10.9, I haven't had time or money to upgrade some of the software apps I'm using....

That should alleviate some of your issues

Not sure if you have done this but make sure you have your firmware on the S4 updated. Firmware is not the drivers.

Also regarding backup. You can not use a iPhone plugged into a s4 as a good backup. The reason for this is that the S4 is not a stand alone mixer and needs the software operational to work. Bad Design.

Also you may want to do a search on the freeze ... this sounds like the common problem that took place about a year back..... I know the mk2 was fixed via firmware not sure about the Mk1.

Also open a trouble ticket ... I think rolling back your OSX is not needed.
