It's a bad Photoshop mockup but I want this!

Again, apologies on a terrible Photoshop job. A lot of people like to use their own mixers so I would love to see NI come out with a unit that includes a pair of the F1 controllers with the decks of the S4. What do you think?

jep, beside the horrible stitching ( :D ), that is a controler i like to use :)

the only problem seems to be, that NI won't release something like a modular system like the reloop contour.
i think you could use 2 of the contour and 2 of the F1 controler like this.
for the additional stuff i woult throw a X1 or a Akai LPD8 or somethin.

    wanna stitch these together? :)

I like the concept of the modular controllers that are currently being released by Behringer as well as the Reloop stuff. What I don't like is the limited functionality they offer due to only using traditional MIDI. To me, the high points of the S4 controller are the adjustable loop size LCD screens and the blue/green feedback buttons. Add in the dedicated buttons for quantizing, switching between decks, loading tracks, and plug-and-play ability and I believe it becomes obvious why NI is favored by many people. Having the jog wheels and made-for-the-software interface of the S4 with built in F1's all running over one USB cable in a single controller would be great!

Here's a quick stitch of the Reloop Contour paired with F1's. Looking forward to when the Behringer CMD PL-1 is released. I'll probably photoshop those together later.

    WOW! that looks awesome!

did you kept the measurements? i dont have the dimensions of the controller, but if that fits that snug, i'm orderin two of each pairs :D

honestly i diddn't check for Loop recording and sampling function at this setup, but i think it shouldn't be a problem

and that behringer thing seems nice too, but either the behringer nor the contour support volume control or have a crossfader :(

D'oh! I completely forgot to consider that the Reloop controllers are longer than the F1. The Reloop Contour Controller edition is 14.8"L x 6.3"W x 2.5"H whereas the F1 is 11.5"L x 4.7"W x 2"H. The ratio on the S4 paired with the F1 should be pretty close. I'm going to redo the S4/F1 combo if I have time today while I'm still at work. I plan on moving the Browse/Quantize/Loop Recorder section to the top and placing the F1's closer together like they are on the botched Reloop/F1 mockup.

awwww, inches - it could take time till i got the dimensions in the metric :D

as far i can see the X1, F1, S4 and the Maschine are in the same lenght, they should fit together like a glove.

But a S4 deck without the mixer deck....

An S4 without the mixer but including the Loop Recorder, Browse, Quantization, etc. section and paired with two F1's is exactly what I want to see from NI. It also wouldn't hurt for them to change the orange Sample triggers on the S4 to blue/green buttons and label them 5-8. This would give tightly integrated control for people that want to use an external mixer but don't want to patch together a bunch of controllers that, even when using complex modifiers, don't offer the same level of integration with Traktor.

i agree - sounds great, but won't you need some kind of "mixer" controls?
you could get a S4 and two F1's but that could need alot of space in your setting.

and there are 3,1" differece between the contour and F1 maybe you could slam a LPD8 in there, if you can find something like a encoder for browsin and looprecorder :D

I don't need mixer controls because I prefer to use a hardware mixer. I had an S4 for awhile but it just seemed overly large with a lot of wasted space since I wasn't using the mixer section. It would be great if NI would come out with a modular series of controllers like the Reloop and new Behringer stuff. Choice is the name of the game and I think they would do well to give their customers some more options. Some people might want 4 jog wheels whereas others might perform their sets using only the sample decks. NI loves to sell hardware so I wouldn't be surprised if they offer something like this next year.
