During each sync of my iPad, iTunes is creating new playlists with a "1", "2", "3", following the original playlist name. It does this for any playlist I have updated since the last sync. The original playlist seems to be renamed as say "Playlist 1" and the playlist with the updated songs is then "Playlist". Sync's are now taking up to an hour to complete. I've looked on Mac threads for this and this issue seems to go back a few years, but no solutions have been offered by Apple. Does anyone have experience with this?

My only thought is that I haven't updated my iPad software in a long time, assuming that any updates would mess up my TDJ (and TDJ is all I use the iPad for)

    My system: itunes 12.7.0.166
    MacBook Pro Mid 2009
iPad 4, software 9.3.3 (13G14) (this is old. I'm nervous to update for interactions with TDJ)

    Please help!

I've got the same problem with my iphone. the safest way i've found of at least sparing myself the work is to just prevent itunes from automatically syncing. seems like a pretty common bug and there's no patch for it. there's software out there to help delete duplicate playlists (but no patch from apple!) so that's a possibility if it really gets unmanageable. sorry i can't be of more help, but at least you know you're not alone...

Are you saying that it doesn't happen for you when you sync manually? That would surprise me as it happens when I auto sync when connecting but also when I manually sync. I am sync'ing folders with all content and this likely has an impact, but this is how I have my folder hierarchy set up for DJ'ing.

No, it still happens when I sync manually, but i do that as sparingly as possible because it takes so much time to delete duplicate playlists. Honestly, i've basically given on using my music library on my iphone, just stick to the spotify or soundcloud apps.
