    Hi Guys,

after many years on windows I bought a Macbook Pro last month for traktor.
I got an Ipad 2 and bought the Traktor DJ App today. To bring my collection from macbook to ipad i used Ituns Match. Now my collection is on the Ipad in the music folder, i can play it with the apple Music app, but the collection will not shown in the traktor dj app. there is only one track which i bought officially on itunes - can anyone help ? how do i bring the traktor app to find and play the tracks of my collection ?

    thanks
    rob

Hit activate - Says its a success, but no imported or merged tracks

    What am i missing?

me too. The same day they've announced it.

But I don't regret. 64 is so enough. Still have about half of it free.
I could fill it easily, if I put the ALAC version of the music files. Yet, I now maintain it with 256 AAC ("convert higher bit rate to" feature of iTunes). Some say the lossless are too I/O heavy and the iPad won't be handling them so smoothly - sounds reasonable, although that was for the times before the 4th revision.

Next revision will come by the end of the year. When I get it, it might be the 128.

works for me. The iPad propagated the key info to my traktor's library.

    Steps:
    1. Traktor DJ analyzed my entire collection
    2. I've registered the drop box account in TDJ
    3. Sync TDJ -> DropBox
    4. upgrade to TSP 2.6.1 on the mac
    5. config the TSP DropBox sync
    6. TSP/Mac asked me to Sync from TDJ/iPad first (again?)
    7. restart TDJ and do one more sync
    8. restart Traktor 2.6.1/Mac
    9. At TSP startup. it asked me what to overwrite with what. I chose get the Ipad library.

    Success.

I'm not using Match and can't advice anything but do an iTunes sync from your Mac.

it is possible that Apple is using different mode/flag on the Match tracks, which is not available through the standard iOS Music Library access APIs.

Sync the iPad statically with iTunes. First time has to be via cable, but you can then enable WiFi sync on iOS 6.

WHAT A PIECE OF **** ! iTunes won't even read FLAC files...

What is it with Apple ?
iTunes - a Media manager that won't recognise a standard lossless format and
Safari - a browser that won't play industry standard Flash video.

    F**K you Apple

And why won't Traktor Pro read cover art from the iTunes library ?
    That sucks
    That's a Native Instruments problem

Metadata sync only syncs the cue points etc it does not sync the actual tracks.
You need to add the tracks to your iPad from your laptop.

Also it takes some time for the sync to process.

I convert my FLACs to ALACs, but that's because my main platform is OS X for years now. I feel you all the way. It was nonsense that it's not reading FLACs - for long time, I was using Foobar2k on the Mac through a Windows emulator (wine) mainly because I have most my tracks in FLAC.

But anyway, you don't need to use iTunes for anything more than feeding up your files into the iPad. That's it ... and FLAC needs to become ALAC ... stupid, you're right.

Just make sure to set up the iTunes, so that it DON'T keep you folders organized and it's not copying all the files to it's own folder. Besides that, it's just a player you should not care that much about.

I think you need to check your attitude.

I've just spent all day trying to get this crap iTunes working like it should, and because its Apple , it probably never will.
Swearing helps. It's stress relief. Apple don't listen to their customers needs
    Nothing personal .

ive got the tracks on the iPad. Thats fine, its the metadata that wont come across

i run the sync on both traktor pro and traktor dj - it says success, yet no meta data transfers ( 0 merged tracks, 0 imported tracks), do the tracks need to be imported into my traktor pro collection from the itunes folder for this to work?

just by coincidence i've noticed the itunes folder in traktor isnt uptodate with current tracks even when i hit refresh. The new tracks are in itunes itself and the ipad, but dont show up in the itunes folder under library or music subfolders in traktor. Is this maybe part of the issue?

Yeah the tracks need to be in your Traktor Collection as well as the iTunes Library.

Your iTunes folder has to be setup in Traktors prefernces so it can read the library.xml

    Metadatasync uses both collections.

the more i think about it, the more i realize how messy and convoluted this is. why can't traktor do it without itunes?

it could just compute a checksum for each file to make sure that the audio file on your PC/MAC and the audio file on your ipad are an exact match. that ain't exactly rocket science, it's not that NI had to invent the concept of syncing from scratch.

All this is done. I don't understand where it's going wrong, it did update traktor pro with 2 cues points I had set up in 2 tracks in traktor dj. But it only worked that once? So frustrating not being able to transfer the cues from tpro to traktor dj. Completely baffled!
    ---
Initially at the start of the evening I think my problem seemed to be traktor referencing an old XML file, as mountain lion had seemingly created a new one. But it's using the new one now. Synced 2 tracks from traktor dj to pro and that was it... Never worked again. Says success but nothing updates!

This is a bit frustrating. :( I like the app but I don't want iTunes to manage my whole collection on my laptop. I thought you could use iTunes just to transfer/store the songs to the ipad and dropbox to sync the metadata?

Dam apple! Really frustrated with their restrictions. NI hurry up with an android or win 8 version.
