Jay bass has fingered and slapped so wanted to know how that loads. Are there more than one option in the kontakt player? (example: pre bass just has one bass that loads)

Also, any one compared ram usage between it and the pre bass?

I got my own answer, I bought it....I'm a sucker  (but might others)

Ram is REALLY low, lower than prebass

There are six different loads. fingered bridge/neck/both and slapped bridge/neck/both

WARNING for some....REQUIRES KONTAKT/PLAYER 4! This will be huge for people who don't have intelmacs!

    Hi,
This is my first post here.
I don't own Kontakt 4 only the free player.
I have a couple of questions please:
    1. If I would like to incorporate fingered and slapped playing in a tune will I need to load 2 instances of the kontakt player or can I do this with only 1 instance?
    2. How does the Jay-Bass compare sound-wise to the Pre-bass and other Scarbee basses?
    3. I know that Jay-Bass is 16 bit and that's why it is lighter on RAM than the Pre-Bass. Does this 16 bit compared to 24 bit have any noticable effect sound -wise?

    Thank you.

    Hi
To be honest I don't have much experience with the Player, but I think it works more or less like the full version except with limited editability and the instruments you can play being limited to those specifically designed to work with Kontakt Player. So I believe that you should always be able to load multiple instruments into the same a single instance.
I recommend that you compare the demos: Jay-Bass, Pre-Bass, MM-Bass (especially the soloed versions - you can click on the time-line markers in order to navigate).

I'm not a bass player myself, so maybe Mr. Scarbee and other people would describe this in another way, but personally I think the Jay-Bass sound when compared to the others has slightly less bottom and is very melodic and has a very well-defined tone with slower decay than in the other basses (especially when compared to MM-Bass with its stronger emphasis on the attacks). This singing aspect of the sound also gives a very nice sound when using slapped playing style since the overtones are very clear. Please listen to the "Super Six Bad Beating - solo" demo.

I don't think so, but I'll leave it up to others to comment on this. Please note however, that the difference in RAM usage is mainly explained by a slightly different programming of the slide system. Pre-Bass and MM-Bass also have more samples per instrument instance, whereas Jay-Bass has more mic setups and also both fingered and slap - so while the number of samples per instrument is lower the total number of samples is still big.

Btw. it may be useful to know that it's possible to download the Jay-Bass manual from the product page.

    Regards,
    Nils - Scarbee script developer

I bought Jay Bass today and just wanted to say: WOW, this is deep sampling. The script writing is state of the art, this Instrument is so playbale and intuitive, really great! The learning curve is not so steep, after reading the manual and jamming for an hour I got the hang of it. This will save me hours of tracking badly tuned ungroovy basses and it will save me thousands paying studio musicians. Poor Bass player :)
