Just sold my Maschine Mikro. Software says it's not transferable?

    Hi folks,
I just sold my Maschine Mikro. I own Komplete Ultimate so I never activated the software that came with the Maschine. It came with "KOMPLETE 11 SELECT for existing MASCHINE". It shows up in my account, but I have NOT registered it.

When I go to the "Transfer a License" page, the software is there but it says it is "Not transferable". How do I transfer it with the sale of the hardware? Do I need to register the software in my account first?

Your Maschine Mikro HW should be Transferable. Unless you have registered it in less than 3 months, or so... If it is Transferable, do transfer just for Maschine Mikro HW. If everything works well, licence for K11S should be added to transfer alongside with the HW. It did work for me like that last time.
But in more past, it did not and only HW went to Transfer.... So, I opened Ticket and asked for SW Transfer (and explained that I want it transfer together with HW as licence rules require). The reply was, it is not possible to transfer it because it is tied to HW. :) So, I had to explain that it is exactly what I want, and for what I ask them. They did not add it to the Transfer, but instead unblocked the Registration Code for SW.
So, it may be simple. It may be not so simple. But it is doable. :)
My experience from past half year is, that it is better to use the chat with NI person than use the Ticket.

Did you register your Mikro at least? Because that would have unlocked the full Maschine software and that should be transferable. Not directly it seems (judging from my own list) but you should be able to transfer the hardware which, as far as I understand, also includes the attached software. Still, when in doubt it might be best to open a support ticket and ask NI for help.

Hardware was registered. Software was not. Ultimate was a separate (earlier purchase). As I said the software has never been registered.

Cool. This is all good info. I will see if I can connect via chat with them to see the best way to proceed.

Recently, you do not have/can register SW that goes with NI HW. If you register HW, your SW is automaticaly registered alongside.

That's not the case in my account. It shows the hardware as registered and the software is not. I've owned this thing for a few years, so maybe it's handled differently now. It did have the check box allowing transfer of the hardware unit so I initiated that.

    EDIT: I was wrong-see below

I'm guessing that I need to register the software before I can initiate a transfer.

Ah - well now I see I have both Komplete 11 Select (unregistered) and Komplete 11 Select for Maschine that IS indeed registered. So I guess that means that even though in the Transfer page it says that "Komplete 11 Select for Maschine" can't be transferred, since it DOES let me transfer the Hardware Maschine that it will then transfer the software?

SW had to be registered (on your account). You said, it was marked Not Transferable.
But you probably meant that it had not been registered for instalation for certain computer using Native Access or its older Brother.
In very past, there were separate RegNums for HW and for SW. So, it could happen one had only HW or only SW on his account.

No. I mean it says "Not Transferable" in the transfer page:

Yes. It should work like that. You askonly for HW Transfer and HW and SW are included in final Transfer Code.
It did work like that for me.
(And it did not work for me like that some time before that….. But it has solution, as I already explained..)

"Komplete 11 Select for Maschine" is never transferable by it self, it's part of the Maschine controller license bundle that includes software, so "MASCHINE MIKRO MK3 HW" is what you want to transfer, when you do all the software that belongs to it will follow to the new owner.
Rules have changed recently but in this case, I think what I've said still applies, support will help you out.
