K2.2.1 crashes when overloading with EWQLSO

I run K2.2.1 standalone on a PC (P4 2.8GHz, 3GB RAM).

I have the 3GB switch present in the Boot.ini.

I have patched Kontakt 2 with the MASM32 program to enable large memory address awareness.

Now I can load it up with Vienna stuff until the Task Manager shows 2.7 or even 2.8 GB total memory used (out of 3GB).

But every time I try to load K2 with EWQLSO (24bit) library, it crashes when the total used memory goes over 2.2 or 2.3 GB in Task Manager (or 2.1 GB used by K2 thread).

I tried with both Virtual Memory enabled (1 GB) and disabled. No difference.

I really need the extra patches loaded.

Is this a known issue?

 

Is it possibly the number of samples or required voices, rather than the memory?

K2.2.1 (PPC/RTAS/Standalone) also crashes both of my systems when loading bigger EWQLSO Multis.
I'm back on K2.2.0 - less problems.

 

Why would you load up 2.8 gigs into K2 when you only have 3 available? That leaves 200 mb for your system, your plugins, your DAW... that isn't really system efficient. VM sucks too, so you're going to kill your performance while making things unstable, too.

 

On my systems (Mac/PPC) it's not a RAM issue. I'm running Kontakt standalones on satellite cpus with 8GB RAM. Being back on K2.2.0, I can load the multis again. So I guess it's a K2.2.1 problem.

 

I have a MacPro 2.66 with 3 GB's Ram. LogicPro is my sequencing software. All software is up to date including the OS. I use, extensively, the Chris Hein Guitar library. It all works just fine under Kontakt 2.2.0. Whenever a multi is loaded using Kontakt 2.2.1, things crash: the stand-alone crashes and Logic crashes when Kontakt 2.2.1 is engaged. So, like everyone else here, I'm back to K2.2.0.

Has Native Instruments mentioned any issues associated with the latest version of Kontakt and an apparent problem loading up multi's?

 

After updating to K2.2.3 I can load the EWQLSO Multis again.
