when i rebuild the database and set up some favourites in the same session everything seems to work ok, but the next time i reload kontakt and select one of the favourites categories it will no longer display any samples, it remembers where they are because it shows the folder trees, but no samples appear.

futhermore, even in 'view all' mode i cant get the database to show any samples until i rebuild the database every time! same behaviour for plugin and standalone.

hope this can be fixed soon.

    my sys:
    kontakt 2.0.1, sx2.2, p4 2.4ghz, 1g ram, 80g hd, xp sp2.

    regards,

ive had this happen to me as well, but not all the time. for some reason sometimes when i close SX3 a message pops up saying (something like) "Quick Search Database Not Saved". For me it seems random, and it only happens when im closing SX3.

When you say that no samples appear, only the folder trees, are you clicking on the "samples" button (just under the "Database" button)? when i first got K2, i thought i had the same problem, but you gotta basically tell K2 what you want it to display.

yes, show samples button is active as are all of them.

k2 jus doesnt seem to remember samples in the database. i can still load the k2 library as usual, but jus cant view any samples in the database unless i do a rebuild each time.

    i have the same problem.

obvious bug in a fundamental area. do they beta test? how can something like this make it into maintenance releases, much less new major releases?

you would think that showing samples is kind of basic stuff for a SAMPLER!

NI please fix the buggy browser and database.

    Happens to me too.

I contacted the support, they replied "please click on the name of the folder to see the contents". Hooray, thank you, this is obvious. I wrote back "This isn't the problem, the files DON'T SHOW!" or something like this, I made screenshots before and after refreshing the DB, suddenly the guy didn't answer any more :(

NI aren't so stupid they don't already know about problems like this, however, they ARE so ARROGANT they won't acknowledge them or fix them in a timely manner. Why would they when they have a tonne of new half finished software to release, and suckers waiting to buy it.

Same thing here. Its VERY frustrating. Sometimes Kontakt simply cant find all the files you have. Every other program on my computer finds the files but not Kontakt 2.

Tried everything rebuld database update database.....

Something like this should newer happend on a comersial relesed produkt. Native, this is beta stuff!

    Re: It Happened!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been posting about the same problems - it is truly maddening. I do so much file arranging, and contant library re-organizing, it's really a problem. To have to clone the entire drive every time I want to start a session, just seems ridiculous, but it might be necessary. I use a giant volume of samples and audio, and all the back up is already incredibly time consuming. It's gotten to the point now, where I'm saving after every nerve reflex I have in hopes that if I crash, Kontakt will load properly when I reboot Sonar.

These basic stability and file access issues must be resolved.

It's made me so unhappy, I've had no desire to even go into the studio for the last week or so. Basic issues like this, after spending $500 on software should be native. I'm sorry, what is the name of this company, again? I've had ZERO help from Native Instrument's tech support. Whatever.

It is definitely not a Sonar problem. Sonar handles it's library/ file access protocol really well, and always has. Sonar also has generally phenomenal tech support.

This is a real Kontakt problem, and desperately needs to be fixed.

I agree, there should be some kind of a dialog box that pops up and notifies the user of the missing sample files, and informs the user what they need to do about this. It seems like it would be a very basic necesaary and obvious function. All of the 20 other plug in companies I use do this - it should be a standard feature. This is not acceptable.

If NI is going to continue to mirror Motu and Digi style tech support and response time, it might be time to bail.
