K3 Bug List - Please Post

1) One can set the site of the interface to 3 different sizes and even enter the pixel amount one wishes... But the only thing getting bigger in the width is the file browser... The racks are so tiny and small that I am getting a head ache from focusing my eyes. I cannot make the mapping or sample editor any bigger... This is not very appealing to the professional having to deal with this all day. So NI - please make the racks bigger

2) Selecting stuff in the sample/Loop editor is a NI KOMPLETE nightmare... If one selects all - well then one has NO option to deselect. Well in the sample editor one can manually enter an end value and then click where nothing is selected but unfortunately this does NOT apply to the zone editor... This is VERY annoying.

3) UNDO - is VERY dangerous and BUGGY... Say that I am enabling beat machine and setting a few slices... Lets say I have set 3 slices manually.... Hitting undo - will go back as far as enabling Beat Machine instead of just undoing the last step I did...

4) Zooming is 100% NON INTELLIGENT... If I select something, lets say a bass drum in a look and click the +/- button to zoom in the K3 defaults back to the start point of the whole loop... I try and hit the "Zoom loop" feature - but it does NOTHING... Intelligent zooming and navigations goes a long way and can be seen in Protools from digidesign.... So if I select a BD and zoom in I would like the zoom to maintain focus on my selection...

5) One can use the mighty mouse scroll wheel left/right on the output rack but not one the mapping editor rack (unless on has opened it in it's own window... Same goes for many other racks... The consistency of K3 is IMO NOT there... Some feature work in some windows and other dont.. Why Why Why....

 

Invert Button in Modulation Tab doesn't work right. Just open a Kontakt 2 preset like "16 Steps to Heaven" from the Abstrakt Vol. 1 by Soniccouture. You will hear the difference.

 

learn from Apple UI guidelines

this is an appeal to the development staff of Kontakt:

There are numerous very very valuable hints and guidelines worked out for good user interfacing, openly available from Apple. No need to reinvent wheels, here.

Consistency and user friendlyness are foreign terms to be learned anew, it seems?

Needing to hit microscopic arrows repeatedly on todays superscreens is plain headache: torture.


There is a simple method for testing programs: if your own mother, or grandmother, or minor nephew has to struggle comprehending the program's functionality, something is wrong with the UI.

Conversion Window has NO Cancel Button...

When doing conversions there is NO way to cancel the process other than to force quit Kontakt

Converting samplecell libraries makes K3 quit when it cant find samples besides that it is VERY VERY slow...
Converting my Sample Cell II library took 8 hours adn brought bout 50 Unexpected quits


I suggest NI implements a few dialogs or error codes so that K3 does NOT have to quit unexpectedly ALL THE TIME when it meets something it cannot understand

 

Instrument Panning in Ableton Live 7.0 a bit strange

I'm assuming this is a bug (!), as it doesn't happen in standalone mode, BUT.......

1. Load up Kontakt3 plugin into a channel in Live 7.0
2. Load up an instrument from the library, e.g. Violin (Standard, all) in to the Kontakt window.
3) Load up another similar instrument beneath it e.g. Viola (Standard, all).
4) Use the pan on one of the instruments, notice how the pan of the other instrument follows the other after the mouse is released.

Can someone confirm this as a problem?

Can't drag samples in Map Window

I prefer to work with a seperate, enlarged, mapping editor window.

It is however not possible to drag and drop samples in this seperate editor window. You'll see a 'prohibited sign' when you drag the sample from the files window over the mapping editor.

It's only possible to add a sample when the mapping editor is not enlarged and at its original, tiny, position in the right column.

I'm using Kontakt 3.0.1 (R2) under Leopard 10.5.1 as a stand alone application.

Kontakt 3 and Cubase SX3

Hello !

Just installed NI Kontakt 3.0.1.11 from Komplete 5 package...

Kontakt clutters SX3.1.1.944 mixer w/ tons of "unassigned channels" even the stereo version of Kontakt3 vst dll is loaded into the instruments rack.
Maybe Kontakt3 stereo version will work correctly only in Cubase 4.1 and it´s instrument tracks, but NI cannot expect everyone will use Cubase 4.1 now.

I´ve the impression, Kontakt3 will show all it´s outputs if loaded via the instruments rack regardless it´s in Cubase SX3/Nuendo3 or Cubase/Nuendo 4,- but this shouldn´t be IMO.
