last night. on my real old horse.
a xeon 2.4 dual with 2megs of raM ran three instances of K3 sampler with a few light soft synths and 20 audio tracks.

about 44 instruments loaded with really heavy libraries. it managed to perform pretty well !

i must say there were runtime errors in cubase, K3 being responsible or not is still debatable
but at least there were no hangs or freezes while doing any K3 operations.(haven't used it till the full blow , but i did touch some of the wave editor parameters and a few things here and there.)

i loaded a guitar rig plugin alongside these three softsynths .. still managed to perform pretty smoothly

my track count (audio + midi) was 68(not accounting the softsynth outputs)

but i had a fantabulous session and really enjoyed working on K3!
Ni has yet again suceeded in coming up with an addictive update. A big thanks to the team for the same

oh and on the same note i would also like to tell you that on my system K3 was really pocessive, it did not let me launch any other heavy softsynth.
the moment i would launch trilogy , it would suddenly crash !
but then i was tripping on the new K3 sounds (eventhough i have just managed to extract the first bank 'bAND' )
the kits the bass etc are phenomenol !

this is a very usable update and i would encourage other K2 users to surely chek it out while keeping the k2.2.3 version on your puters.!

Hi sameer, welcome to the minority of people who DON´T complain about K3 in this forum :D . Furthermore I´m on your side because I also think that K3 is a useful update and for me mostly stable. I don´t use huge libraries very often, I´m more into tweaking samples and redesign them. The new effects of K3 come in handy for this job.
This is just my personal opinion and experience and btw I have Windows XP and Cubase4

    hello deep !
wow i am sure with the new zone env.functions you must be really havin a ball !
oh so you are also on C4 xp ! wow same combo here too
are you on Cnet too ?

oh sorry for being lazy and not reading the manual , but can you tell me if the zone env. can vary pitch on a sample too ?

Hi sameer, you´re absolutely right, the zone envs are a really nice playground! You can vary the pitch of a sample (click on the tone knob and then add the envelope), you can modulate everything where you can normally put LFOs or adsr-envs on it.
Sorry, I´m not on CNET (I don´t exactly know what it is  )

thanks for the tip deep, but i was wondering if you could do
the envelope on the wave form in the wave editor !

and  to be savvy.. i meant ..Cubase.net;)

I have cubase.net in my favorites and take a look into the forum from time to time. They´re all waiting for C4.1.
You CAN modulate the pitch with the zone envelopes on the waveform! The LFO and adsr was just an example. I wanted to say that you can modulate nearly everything with the zone envelopes in the wave editor. That is the great thing about the new version.
I hope I could clear up the misunderstanding ;)

Deepbass I think you confused terms. You said "complain", when I think the terms you were searching for were "seeking technical assistance."

It is always inviting to see users having a good experience with the updates, especially when the majority of the posts on the forum are about negative aspects of the program.

i just managed to play around with the zone envelopes !
OMFG ... this is a factory in itself !
    wow

playing with any group ins on automation.. can completely change a sound to something else !

man i love the zone env. no sampler can come close to this ! really really intuitive !

Hey sameer, inspired by our little chat here, I played with the zone env and drum loops the whole evening. Great to know that someone likes K3 and it´s flexibility as much as I do :D
    Keep playing !

Hi Sameer, how did you manage?
I am still fighting with zero .nki content, whatever way I tried to install...
How did you fix the missing library presets (.nki)?
    thanks!,

i had already copied the samples from the DVDs to the hard ,so i just installed the content in a different location(so that the already copied samples don't get over writtern)

    here is the trick.
look for the komplete installer in your temp installer folder

in my case it was in

    C:\Documents and Settings\sameer\Local Settings\Temp

    run the installer from here
(so U don't have to put the installer cd over and over)

now unchek all the softsynth installation and go to next step
    to install sample libraries

unchek all the options apart from k3 user libraries
on the right hand you will see 'OPTION' button
press it and only install one library at a time

so if you are installing the BAND , uncheck the rest

follow the steps .,when you come to the sample library path, make sure u dont install it in the already sample folder.(to avoid samples being over writtern)

so if lets say your samples are in D:\Kontakt3\sample library,

    choose a location like D:\x
by default it will add a path.
    now hit install,
firstly it installs the instruments> IR samples> wallpapers and after that the samples .
the moment you see it has copied the first three folders
    abort setup

    go to D:\x\..\sample library
    copy three folders.
    Instruments ,

wallpapers and Ir samples(these two folders are copied in the zsamples folder) to your earlier sample locations

now run the installer again , repeat all the steps above just this time unchek the already copied files and chek the next sample content folder till you reach the last library.

hope i was clear enough ... pardon my language :)

no, it still does not work.
The installer stops when it asks to "insert library disc number X", and to "click on the ok" button. Then simply nothing happens anymore. I tried to install every single library (Band, Orchestral, ...) selectively, but is does not accept or recognize its own library discs. What a mess.
Interestingly, I tried the same procedure on a second computer (my notebook), but also their it hangs when asking for the disc!
    what's going on here?

    NI, please fix this problem!

i briefly tried Kontakt 3, and i must say i am intrigued by the new sample editor and the possibilites in it. i can't wait to go mad with it.

however, this release has crashed or locked up or broken down within 3 minutes every single time i've tried it :)

just things like switching tabs in the sample editor makes it go "poof!", hehe. so it's on the shelf for now.

both K1 and K2 was pretty shaky until version .1 so i'm not worried, by 3.1 i think K3 will be a pretty fantastic sampler.

Hey i too run C4.03 & K3, everything went really smoothly and am still yet to experience any major glitches. just have hanging notes occasionally and sometimes notes just wont play in the range. still using K2.2.3 though for now till fully confident with K3

despite the few crashes i had (for instance, when creating more than 128 slices and dropping them into the mapping editor), i must say K3 is pretty cool.
it enables you to edit samples much more quickly, and without the need to deal with new zones (as zone envelopes are not linked when you duplicate).
there's been quite a lot of improvements regarding UI, so i find myself clicking much less than before.

so i'm pretty happy with this new release. can't wait to have it 100% stable, if that ever happens.

Can't use it at all in Cubase 4.1.
Cubase crashes all the time - so I am REALLY waiting for the Kontakt update.
